I think there are two reasons. 1) They don't want to take chances on cutting to much weight to fast. 2) He's keeping his options open at both 168 and 175. If KP looks and feels good against Lopez, a Pavlik/Cloud fight might be a real crowd pleaser.
I hope he stays on a clean path, everyday must be a struggle as a recovering alcoholic, but boxing may be whats keeping him from all that trouble, so kudos to him. Hope boxing treats him well back and he can find a safe haven in the gym.
Besides staying clean, I hope Pavlik can some day get a new trainer. There is so much you can do with a 1-2 all night.
wonder if he'll start drinking beer the moment things dont go according to plan or he suffers a setback loss or some rough patch that is the true battle.
There isn't much video available. Based on the little bit I've seen he reminds me of a broke-dick, poverty-stricken Froch. He's 21-0, but his resume is all padding and no real substance. He weighed in at 184 for 1 fight, has 17 fights at 175, and 3 fights at 168. He's a big strong guy who looks easy to hit.
jsimps said he had a boat load of new ink...he wasnt lying. its been a few years now since things have gone smoothly both in and out of the ring. hopefully with everything going smoothly out of the ring (presumably), we can see the kelly of old. if we do, a lot of people who didnt watch him coming up will know what we've known all along.
If hes easy to hit, then this is a good comeback opponent for Pavlik and it should be a fairly easy win for him.
