I do not think Alfonso Lopez is good enough to tell us whether or not the beast is back. I think Kelly should fight one more fight before he goes after a top guy. The Lopez fight is like a prelude to a real tune-up. Marcus Johnson would be a good candidate for a real tune-up.
I'm mostly interested in seeing how KP approaches this fight. If he comes out and tries to just run over Lopez, I won't be impressed, even if he's successful. I'd rather see the full bag of tricks on display, and believe it or not, KP used to have a pretty extensive bag of tricks.
yes he does. havent seen them in some years to be honest but yes he does. i've watched him since he was very green and he has so much more than he has displayed even looking as far back as the taylor fights. even during those fights he didnt show everything i knew he had based on what i had seen.
"Kelly Pavlik had this to say about his next eight weeks of training. "I do want to get back, just like how I fought in the middle rounds with Martinez and Taylor, all those fights. This content is protected ." I was happy to read this. Also his D is very underrated he's very good at blocking and slipping shots. I'm really suprised by the amount of people either writing Pavlik off or acting like he never was anything. Pavlik in top form could definitely get in the mix at whatever division he decides on. what with the tattoo's though? Don't think they look all that great and seems like guys like him, margarito, cotto all get large amounts of ink after losses. explaination?
I've been wondering about fighters and their tatoos myself. I have no explaination. A sober, focused and determined Kelly Pavlik is good for boxing. Whether he's 168 or 175 if he can fight like he did from fall 2005 thru spring 2008, there's gonna be hell to pay!
:good I agree with you Boo. This is more like tune up, not come back Fight. i really hope Kelly could rise one more time amd eing serious business at these higher Weights.
could you imagine if Kelly made it to the absolute top once more? If i remember correctly he never supposed to be undisputet middleweightchampion of the world but he proved all wrong.
I had an email discussion with Alfonso Lopez, and he seems to know he has his work cut out for him. He said he plans to keep his hands up, avoid the 3-2 traps, and try to prevent Kelly from getting the old jab/right hand mojo rolling. And by the way, Lopez seems like a really likable kid. I don't think he can beat KP, but I hope he can do enough to raise his own profile.
