It says if Taylor decides to take the rematch it wont be for the Belts? Can someone please explain to me how that works. If Taylor were to rematch and win, how could he not get his belts back? That makes no sence to me.
Taylor says he cant make 160 so they would have to fight at a catch weight - 166. You cant win a 160 belt when you weigh 166 so it would have to be none title.
If he rematches it will not be at 160. The contract specifies 166, therefore no titles on the line. However, if both agree to fight at 160 again and if Pavlik's team agrees to it being a title fight, then there you go. Clear as mud.
It made no sense to me either when they were talking about it during negotiation time. But that is how they did it; IF Pavlik were to win the rematch would be at 166, don't know if either party was saying they couldn't make 160 anymore or if that's the only way Team Pavlik would take the deal?
Thanks. Ok, well now it makes sence why no belts are on the line. But that leaves me with the question of why would there be a rematch clause at 166? I think its a little dumb... cause now you don't have an immediate chance to get your belts back, which makes the rematch clause a little pointless in my eyes other than possible redemption.
Taylor actually said and the press conference before the fight that he made the weight pretty easily and I have seen an interview with Arum saying they both made the weight ok and there is no sense in rematching at 166 so my guess that if they do have a rematch, it will be for the titles but you never know. I think it is the most competitive fight at middleweight right now but I don't see a rematch happening right away.
