Pavlik V Calz... the more I think about it the more I think this fight should happen.

No I dont think ppl want too many more fights from him. Just Pavlik and/or Dawson. Most understand he wants to retire, but just want to see him do one of those things.

 

the first Taylor win over Hopkins was much much less convincing than Joe's win over Hopkins

 

Hopkins at 43 was at his best ..Please don't use his age as a convienet excuse ..Hopkins is a freak of nature his age was not a factor going into this fight after he beat Tarver and Wright who in their own right are ten times more proven the Kelly Pavlik .Pavlik hasn't done jack that's p4p worthy except beat Taylor,and his p4p status was always in question .How is Pavlik even in the top ten when all his quality wins came at middle ..I never knew that one win is worthy of a high p4p ranking ????


Joe had a better opponent in Hopkins P4P wise and legacy wise .

Lets revisit Pavliks p4p status once he has unified the division and has had success out side of middle ..Right now he shouldn't even be in the top 10 ..But yet Joe should be obligated to fight him becuase he beat Miranda and Taylor ?? Come on already ..Pavlik has buiness to take care of at middle .. Double A is waiting !

 

I probably agree with you that he is the best SMW of all-time, but would you agree that boxing historians will likely criticize his career because of his sub-par competition? Do you agree beating Pavlik now will do more for his career than beating RJJ? If he beat Pavlik after beating Hopkins, he would go out with two victories over top ten p4p fighers. When was the last time RJJ was in in the top ten p4p?

 

i agree this fight is the only one that makes sense for Calzaghe.

from Pavlik's point of view he can fight Calzaghe or Abraham though obviously Calzaghe would be better.

 

Why is Pavlik even considered top 10 ?Outside his wins over Taylor what has he done to deserve a top 10 spot p4p ?

 

Joe will get beat by Jones....

 

If he beats A.A. and then maybe Winky it'd be hard to keep him out of the top 10. I think he'd have more trouble with Winky.

 

No doubt but right now there is nothing he's done thats p4p worthy ..If he does beat double a and winky he cracks the top ten .But for now he shouldn't even be close to it ..

They also have JMM at # 3 ..So that doesn't mean they are very credible as far as p4p rankings ..

Who has he beat worth mentioning as of late ?

 

The one problem I have is that since Pavlik beat Taylor all of the sudden Taylor is horrible. If Taylor fought like he did against Pavlik either time IMO with a few pounds, he'll beat anyone at Super Middle. He'd beat Kessler IMO...Hope he fights soon and re-establishes himself.

 

Taylor is not horrible but the problem I have is that since that win now Pavlik is an atg in people eyes ..And the same thing is being done with Joe's win over Hopkins ..Can't support one fighter and then exclude another using the same arguement .
