You've got that totally the wrong way around. It's you who has been saying all the way through this thread a win over Taylor means nothing, yet a win over a 43yr old Hopkins means an awful lot. Taylor beat a younger version of Hopkins twice.

No I call his win over Taylor his only quality win ..I never discredited that win ..But thats his only claim to fame ..And a win over a 43 yr old Hopkins does mean a hell of allot more than a win over Taylor considering the type of fighter Hopkins is ..Taylor's only claim to fame was his 2 close wins over Hopkins ..Why wasn't there this much hype for JT when he beat Hopkins ? There wasn't no one was even willing to place JT as high as they place Kelly Pavlik p4p wise now..Its selective support !

Oh and lets not act like people weren't calling Hopkins shot right after those fights ..But when he beat Tarver no one ever questioned his age .

I do see what your saying about the over hype out there for Pavlic at the moment, but having said and taking everything into consideration, this really is the fight Joe needs to take, imo.

It's a lot more credible then the jones fight. Pavlic is now top ten p4p (like it or not) and it will sit very well on Calzaghes resume.

For an elite fighter who needs to strengthen his resume, the RJJ fight is...

Dawson is more of a credible fight than Jones and Pavlik but no one is crying as loud for that fight than the Pavlik fight .Kelly is in the exact same position Lacy was ..Sorry but I can't give all the credit in the world to a guy who only has 1 quality win ..His placement p4p wise is a joke when all he has to speak of is Jermain Taylor .

Joe doesn't owe anything to a barly unproven midle who just happens to be the flavor of the month .

Hardened Calzaghe fans were crying for a live wire Dawson fight rather then 43 year old Hopkins.

That fight too would be a good match up no argument from me there.

At the end of the day though Dawson is now out of favour, and a win over Pavlik holds far more Kudos. It may not be fair, but that's the way it....

Jo should at least get his arse in the ring with just one prime p4p top ten fighter!

What will be hilarious will be the ****** wrench thrown into the p4p rankings after Jones beats Calzaghe. It'll be worse than the BCS in college football....

This shot version of Jones is never going to beat Calzaghe; never.

    calzaghe does too.

he was more than able to make his own choices - and it's no coincidence that these fights can be made now.

there's no way warren or joe would have taken hopkins or jones in their prime and that's why jones is being built up by calzaghe now ahead of their (imminent) september clash.
