Same result as Joe v Kessler.

Joe has to much talent in the ring + experience for a fighter like Pavlik.

The type of fighter that worries Calzaghe is the type that he stays away from, hand speed, agility, crafty ring skills, etc...

I said it before and I'll say it again, "Antonio Tarver would rip him to shreds"

Mundine (or a very similar type of fighter) would give him more problems than Pavlik. Anyone that can match or better his hand speed would force him to fight a different game.

A prime RJJ would have been a masacre. Joe wouldn't know what hit him, but then again that's a bit unfair as the same applies to most fighters.

He needs to fight Tarver before he wins me over. Pavlik needs to do a whole lot more to do the same. If he were to get wiped out next fight he would become yesterday's news very quickly.

Too close to call, i'm sittin on the fence for this one.

Pavlik isn't anything Joe hasn't seen before, Pavlik walks forward in straight lines and Joe's angles may make it difficult for Pav to land too many but Joe doesn't have any power left anymore due to his fragile hands. JC also didn't look great against B-Hop. One thing though if Pavlik wins it's gonna have to be by KO as Joe's high workrate means he can tap his way to a points win if he can stay out of range.

Calzaghe got caught coming in against Bernard and got nailed on the button. He wouldn't be coming in face first against Pavlik. I got the feeling watching the fight that Joe had very little respect for Hopkins' punching power. Pavlik will press the action with Joe's footwork and handspeed showing Pavlik something he's never seen before. It's rumoured in going to be in Wales, and if that's the case, Joe won't lose there.

You hit the nail on the head the with your first sentence ippy , Joe wasn't worried **** about Hopkins power and the old **** taught him to respect it , Was Joe hurt ? Was he **** , but if you are on your arse in the first round fighting a ledge like Hopkins in Vegas in front of three yank judges and a yank ref you change your plans rapidly lol , Joe tried responding in the best way he could of by trying to box the old **** but as it turned out Hopkins didn't want any form of engagement . hence to **** poor spectacal we witnessed :deal against Pavlik he will know a brawl is out of the question and will probably revert to his old self and box pavlik to a UD , this would happen regardless of the venue Ippy .

Mate I meant it more as a compliment for the intensity Joe appears to fight with in front of his countrymen, than a judging influence.

Cardiff Arms Park would be great, or so would MSG. One of my favourites though would also have to be at Yankee Stadium.

I agree with much of this but I'll still take Pavlik.

Clicked on this thread expecting it to be full of people saying Pavlik doesn't have a chance...

CALZAGHE WOULD WIN THIS UD BY A LARGE MARGIN
reason:the only way pavlik can win is by KO and he may even get his chance and still not be able to KO calzaghe.calzaghe has been caught by kessler and bernard clean ,and just shook it off.we all know calzaghe throws 100 punches around therefor winning largely on points.

Calzaghe takes this fairly easily imo.

His angles and unorthodoz style would give the fairly stiff Pavlik fits. Pavlik hasn't showed that he can adapt yet.

The way I see it is that Pavlik's biggest strengths are fairly similar to Kessler's strengths, but Kessler's more superior in those areas than Pavlik is, and he's more mobile as well, which will make it even easier for calzaghe to tag him.

I dont buy this....Hopkins put Calzaghe down with a perfectly time counter...I dont think Pavlik has that technique in his armoury

Yerp, exactly how I see it.
I think Kessler would beat Pavlik too.

I will actually go against the norm here....Pavlik will win this by KO.
Pavlik will walk right thru Calslappy, maybe thats why Calslappy is chicken.:yep
