Pavlik v. Dawson at 168, if both had 6 months to prepare; who wins?

Taylor did damage because he got Pavlik to brawl with him and one of those massive swings hit. Then, he pounced and tried to stop him but couldn't. Dawson couldn't either. Pavlik is more experienced now anyway. If Pavlik got in a brawl with Dawson, Dawson would get knocked out for sure.

No one went after Dawson the way Taylor went after Pavlik. Taylor was lucky. Dawson's chin is definitely more shaky than Pavlik's. Dawson wouldn't have survived Taylor, that's for sure...

Exactly he froze up with Dawson's southpaw stance, speed and his movement he wasn't use to it and couldn't handle it and was made uncomfortable all night by it. The same will happen to Kelly since he's never seen it either.

Yeah, he says he's better at 175 than at 160! Sure thing! So is Pavlik! That doesn't mean they wouldn't both be better at 168 than at either 175 or 160 now, does it!;)

Except that Pavlik will take Dawson out after he buzzez him. He won't let him off the hook, the way Adamek did...

Dawson is much more accurate than Taylor not to mention a better combo puncher as well. He would have fared much better in that situation than Taylor did.
You say Dawson would get Koed as if Kelly has an iron chin, he could go down just as easily as Dawson could don't fool yourself.

If Taylor had been in with Dawson and had hurt him as badly as he hurt Pavlik, he'd have finished him. I'm certain of that.

Dawson wouldn't have been in that position because he's not stupid enough to stick his chin out there like that and taunt Taylor like Kelly did.

Dawson keeps his guard down, stops moving and provides a clear shot to the chin for seconds on end...

    *CRACK* comes Pavlik's right hand....:yep

We don't know if Kelly's power will carry up to 168. He might turn into a plodding slugger at that weight.:D

No, he won't. He'll have more power with slightly more muscle mass. He is a very big MW...going up to SMW is no problem - it's an advantage!

    Um, no.

He went from 160 through to 175, and stopped to pick up a trinket belt at 168.

He describes his movement up these weightclasses, 168 included, as "natural developement", and his body "filling out".

    Nice try though. :good

It's inevitable that fighters lose power as they go up in weight.

Why did he not stay at 168?

That's right...the division was too crowded and he didn't fancy his chances against Calzagh or Kessler. On the other hand...the likes of Tarver - whom he and everyone assumed was shot - looked a much better risk/reward...

    Nice try though...:good
