Difference is that Adamek can take a punch and is larger, with better boxing skills and better timing. Pavlik would be especially open to getting KOed early due to his glass chin.

I had to think about this one for a while but I think Kelly would take chad out and overwhelm him

You actually think its bonafide china then? People on here are constantly telling me its granite, looks a bit dodgy, okay at best to me. What makes you think so?

Kelly doesn't have a glass chin, you are exaggerating just like you do with everything else.

I'm sorry but I don't see why your so shocked at my pick. It's just an opinion. Let's face it. Neither have shown terrific chins, so the chances of this going the full 12 is not exactly high. Pavlik tends to walk forward in straight lines behind a strong jab. He does not have great lateral movement. Dawson does. He fires off combos at very good speed and with good power. At 168, maybe more so than Pavlik. Taylor was neck and neck with Pavlik for 10 rounds in their second fight, before Pavliks extraordinary fitness and power overwhelmed Taylor for the last 2. In their first fight, Taylor punched himself out when Pavlik was badly shaken up, and should of ended the fight there and then.

Dawson himself was holding on for dear life against Johnson in the 10th. Pavlik, in the same circumstances, I feel, would of finished the job. But I simply believe that Pavlik would be countered to bits by Dawson. I'm by no means ruling out the possibility of Pavlik beating Dawson, but I would favour Dawson in this one.

    Sensible post.

At 175 I pick Dawson by late stoppage.

At 168 I pick Pavlik by late stoppage.

Having seen how effective Glen Johnson was against Dawson, I have to go for Pavlik.

Pavlik is a pressure style fighter who comes forward and keeps you honest all night with solid shots. I would say at Johnson's advanced age, Pavlik is better at it than he is and would probably have a little more power behind some of those shots.

Dawson looks fragile under pressure and seemingly has lower punch resistance than most LHWs in the top tier. It would be an intriguing fight but based on recent competition and fight style, I think Pavlik beats Dawson, Dawson just doesn't have the slickness required to keep a guy like Pavlik off him, hell, I thought he lost to Johnson.

I'm shocked because the last time Dawson stopped someone in the kind of fashion Haye stopped Macca was...what? Hearn? Or...go, on; I'll be generous - old, faded journeyman Epifanio Mendoza. Now...are you really comparing a prime Pavlik with the Mendoza that fought Dawson?:?

And the last time Pavlik was wobbling all over the ring on the verge of getting stopped by a fighter with average power at MW was how long ago?

Dawson won't fight Pavlik like Taylor did. If he does, I think he's fall right into Pavlik's trap. No, I'm not convinced by this argument, sorry.

hmmm this is a tough one. I'm a big pavlik fan but i don't know, i think dawson could get a decision on him cause of his speed. If he fights like he did against johnson then i think pavlik has a good chance. If pavlik would be a bit conservative like he was against taylor in their second fight then that wouldnt be good. if i had to choose right now ill say that dawson wins by decision.

Dosen't have to be a stunning KO. I simply think both men will go toe to toe early on. It could be a case of Pavlik being out on his feet and the ref stops it. Either way, the only weight these two are likely to meet at is 175. Were just gonna have to wait and see how Pavlik handles the move up to 168 first.

From what Ive seen from Dawson I say Pavlik right now. Luckily Dawson isn't going to fight Pavlik and still has some learning to do. Dawson is probably going to fight Diaconu and after that a rematch with Johnson. Pavlik is going to fight Lockett, Calzaghe, and some other opponent. I can see a match between the two next year and I predict Dawson will win, but for now I say Pavlik.
