Yes they are. Personally I think Pavlik/Kessler is a great match up. On the basis of styles I think Kessler gives Pavlik fits. Pavlik has exactly zero wins over really good orthodox boxers. The fight itself would come down to the jabbing contest. I'll take Pavlik in a close but clear decision.
Bull****. Slaphead will have to grow some hair to cover the damage. Don't be suprised if Loew adds a gruelling "grooming" regime to his gymwork before Kessler.
this is a hard fight too pick i can see both winning in different scenerio's . depends on who impose ther will first and who comes in with a better game plan . there is only one time i ever seen KEssler lose or let some on impose there will. but JOE had to take it to another level at leat 3x during that fight. thats the only time in a fight i ever see that him and kessler both rasied ther level joe just had more levels. as far as KP winning he usally does the same thing very text book like but not one dimensional.he does come in a straight line presses foward. double jab right hand and some times hooks but rarel unless he corners his foe. his game plan is very effective and is what i would call a universal game plan as it is effective against most styles. and kessler styles falls into this catagory. also what alot of people don't notice is kp throws good effetively placed body shots that don't get alot of attention look at both taylorfights and the miranda fight and you'll see what im talking about this helps break his opponets down. and this is what i feel would be his ace in the scenerios that he wins in as JOE hurt Kessler with a body shot(that kessler admitted hurt him and said he felt like going down but he wouldn't himself go down) and joe at this stage doesn't hit as thudding as PAVLIK.. AS for KEssler winning i could see his speed being alot of trouble for Pavlik. I know alot of people bring up Taylor fight but the difference is Kessler punches are straighter and he also has a killer upper cut. the fastes way between 2 points is a striaght line and this is why kessler was able to fight on such even terms with Joe (untill joe stepped it upand made the adjustments). plus he also has a sleddge hamer right . his jab is more then a range finder it's piston like and very fast and accurate i could see it opening a cut . but his ace would be his uppercut and since he's so fast with it as Pavlik leans in to push foward it would land and often he would eventually go down . by it . or the stright right. this is my opinion on both scenerio's but i actually like this fight and hopes it happens either KP vs kessler or AA vs Kessler
He has hair where it counts. The place Calzaghe can just run a razor over because it is smooth and devoid of obstacles. Which rhymes with....
I see all your points. The jabbing contest would be VERY important, and as a hardcore Pavlik fan, I hate to even think about uppercuts!! Pavlik has shown himself vulnerable to uppercuts from lesser men than Kessler! On the plus side Pavlik is a murderous body puncher. He has ended fights with body shots from both hands. Pavlik and Calzaghe are so different from each other that Calzaghe/Kessler tells us little. However, there is one point I think is important. My position all along has been that one of the main reasons Calzaghe beat Kesseler came from his willingness to leave everything in the ring. Kessler did not seem to have that kind of heart. I honestly believe that no matter who you are at 160-175, if you're not willing to leave absolutley everything in the ring, Pavlik will beat you.
We will know more about this fight after the Hopkins fight? Kinda depends how Hopkins fights, though in essence Kessler and he are much different fighters. Im torn on this one, I rate both highly and Kessler presents a different challenge. He takes Kelly's size advantage out of the equation but I think a lot of people underrate Kelly's boxing ability. His defense is not pourous and he judges the distance quite well. I could definitely see Taylor-Pavlik II, a close one, could be open to debate who the winner was.
