I did watch this fight but due to my terrible memory all I recall is a war of attrition until Miranda folded. What I'd like to know is how easily Miranda was landing on Pavlik. Because with all the debate going on about Calzaghe V Pavlik I'd like to know how elusive Pavlik was against a fighter who is not the most refined.
Pav's plan was not to be elusive, but to drive staight into the face of Miranda. And it worked, the first and only time Miranda had been KO'd and is the only REAL defeat on his record. People may tell you of 4-5 big right hands Miranda landed, but that's it...in a 7 round fight. P.S.- YouTube has the full fight for your viewing pleasure.
Miranda's punching technique is ****. Which means that to land a devastating shot he absolutely needs to lean into the punch with his weight behind it. Pavlik backed him up. Miranda sucks at fighting off the backfoot The result is what we saw.
Thinking of this fight brings me a great joy, I mean this was a fight As you can see here Pavlik shows proper respect to Miranda's offense by slipping punches , ducking under shots, and delfecting blows while launching his own attack. At the same time ; Pavlik is willing to step through Miranda's attacks just to land his own. Miranda wasnt going to convince Pavlik that he was stronger . [YT]IcWDSP6ghwY[/YT]
Odviously he is getting hit more than he is supposed to but It just doesnt seem to matter when its all said and done.
Pavlik bullied the bully, Miranda couldn't fight very well going backwards and Pavlik beat him up then knocked him out. Pavlik's best defense was to keep driving forward and throwing punches because Miranda was having trouble getting his punches off. Pavlik also used some good subtle defensive moves. Miranda landed a decent number of shots against Pavlik but was totally out of his comfort zone, this was a case of a great offense equaling a great defense
Miranda landed his fair share of right hand shots, but they definitely lacked the snap and zip that they carried in previous fights. Maybe it wouldn't have made any difference, but Miranda's struggle to make weight seemed quite apparent as early as round 1. I would like to see a rematch at 168...
lol just giving you a hard time. But about this fight, Miranda seemingly had no trouble landing on Pavlik. I remember I think it was around the 4th or 5th he literally winded up three big right hands like he was throwing a baseball and all of them landed flush to Pavlik's chin.
