, he suffered an impressive points loss to Mikkel Kessler in a world title fight that proved to many that the former NSW Origin star had the ability to live up to the hype his change of sports had generated. Mundine wanted a re-match, but Kessler avoided him to fight Joe Calzaghe. Now the roles are reversed, after the Dane was outclassed in the unifying bout, the Man is no longer interested.
"It's a business, it's all about making money and making the right fights, so I want to fight Calzaghe. I don't want to fight Kessler," Mundine said.
"But the WBA has sort of made Kessler the mandatory [challenger] and my team and I don't feel that Kessler is a viable option at this point because of the money factor - plus he is coming off the loss to Calzaghe. We don't see that as being very positive for me, so we're probably going to relinquish and look for opportunities in middleweight.
"I want the best. I would love to fight Kelly Pavlik, I would love to fight Joe Calzaghe and in middleweight I want to fight Winky Wright and people like that."
Soliman, who went 12 rounds with Wright in 2005 and has swapped between middleweight and super-middleweight a number of times, believes Mundine would have little problem adapting to the lighter division.
But he is determined to ensure that when Mundine relinquishes the belt, it will be because of a loss in tonight's bout.
"He'll be wanting a re-match at middleweight," said Soliman, who suggested he may also forego the belt if he wins tonight unless he can secure big money super-middleweight bouts with the likes of Calzaghe and Jeff Lacey.
"Mundine is a professional and I wouldn't be surprised if an athlete with his ability and discipline makes it comfortably. He obviously takes his boxing seriously … and if I was in his shoes, I'd go down to middleweight, too, because he'll be a big hitter."
While Soliman is confident of an upset, Mundine vowed to make him pay for a stunt at the weigh-in, during which the Victorian "dacked" him as he stepped on the scales. "It was very immature, unprofessional and childish and I'm going to remind him of it when he's getting his ass whipped," Mundine said.

Mundine wanted a re-match but Kessler avoided him to fight Calzaghe:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl
coward Kessler fighting the SMW ring and WBO SMW champ instead of rematching the guy who won 7 of 36 rounds on the judges cards.:patsch

Who cares what danny green thinks? Green and mundine seem destined to be tied together in all debates regarding the other.

Anthony mundine put up a good performance against kessler but a loss is a loss and thus nothing to brag about. He has the tools to be great he needs to use them against the big dogs if he wants the lasting legacy he claims he desires, however you can't stroll into these big fights because of the risk and reward conundrum.

Danny Green put up a poor performance to win the ibo title yet blew rjj away in a round and he can rightly brag about it - anyone would, however he is dangerously running the risk of believing his hype and his next opponent will be of some interest.

Neither is a slouch but its been proved mundine is the better of the two and its ironic that greens definitive fight is at an age mundine hasn't reached yet.

but Choc relies on speed more than Green.thats fading. RJJ is fading younger and faster than Hopkins despite being better prime for prime.he also played NRL a rough sport which probably took a toll on him.the IBO MW title was his bargaining chip to get Pavlik.he let that go rather than fight Geale again.i wish him luck getting fight with Pavlik and hope he wins if he does but its highly unlikely IMO.
