For all of the talk about Pavlik v. JC, I fail to see how this would turn out any different than Calzaghe v. Lacy. In fact, head to head, I'd give prime uninjured Lacy a slight pick 'em edge over Pavlik on most days.

Defense - Lacy by a slight margin. This is based on the fact that Pavlik seems to have no defense whatsover except the fact that he is always on the offense. I don't know where this would get him against an extremely fast, unorthodox counterpuncher like JC.

Chin - Lacy. Lacy took a hell of a beating from JC, but didn't go out on his back even though JC never let up. In my mind, Lacy's knockdown against Cal was more about a continued beating and fatigure more than anything. Pavlik went down pretty fresh against Taylor. In fact, Pavlik was damn lucky Taylor ran out of gas otherwise we would be talking JC v. Taylor about now. Hell, if Taylor gets his head together, Pavlik will have a very hard time in the rematch.

Power - I'd give Pavlik the edge here by some degree based on the fact that Kelly hits with both hands, but the margins aren't all that great, either. Lacy didn't hit a 70% ko average with having hands like feathers.

Since Pavlik seems to be the flavor of the day around here, what do you all think of this theoretical match at 168?

Lacy was heavier but I wouldn't count on him winning. He is still very limited, stiff, and predictable.

    Pavlik of 07 wins.

I'd actually go for Lacy in this one.

Lacy is shorter so he could get inside in front of Pavlik's long reach and pound away.

Lacy would have a field day with someone as stationary as Pavlik. Jeff's chin is also MUCH better.

Saying that thought, whoever lands clean first wins really. It aint going the distance.

I thought Lacy was a beast before he ran into Calzaghe but I thought Pavlik was a beast ever since he beat up Bronco Wright. Really tough one to call. Lacy is in a higher weight class but I don't know that a jump to super middle would hurt the 6' 2" Pavlik.

What a war this will be!!!

Id have to give the edge to Lacy however, Pavlik is exactly the kind of fighter Jeff likes to battle against. Guys who arent hard to find are his forte.

For all his shortcomings Jeff is a pretty sound offensive fighter, I think his power is overrated but his handspeed is a little underated. I really feel he would be landing at will almost on Pavlik and as stated before I reckon Lacy's chin wont be the first to give out.
