By the way: where the hell was Kelly Pavlik last night?

Probably said to himself: 'why should I go to an event to watch a former victim of me knocking out a European fighter... and then confront me to call me out!' :patsch

is Arthur standing on a box?

I really like both fighters. A good fight for boxing. AA has the defensive, chin and power advantage. He won't get KO'd and with 3 KO's in the 12th he carries his pop way late. Pavlik has a great work rate and solid technique. his defense leaves a little to be desired, but he pick off punches with his gloves well and his work rate makes up for defensive lapses. Pavlik could win a decision but I don't think he could KO Arthur. Arthur could decision Kelly or KO Kelly. I don't know who would win, but i'd favor Arthur. He has big time one punch KO pop and I expect him to get to Kelly throughout the fight. Great fight either way, Kelly has a stylistic advantage and could outbox Arthur, but i just cant get past that Arthur is an superb counter-puncher and with Kelly's high work rate, he'll have ample opportunities to do so.

I don't either can knock the other out. And, Abraham spends too much time covered up to win a decision against a guy that throws as many punches as Pavlik

You need to raise Kelly up about 5 inches in this. I notice you have AA slightly higher judging by the noses . :rofl Kelly probably just figured he'd TIVO it. You know he isn't confrontational outside the ring.

That wild **** isn't going to work against Kels ... and i'm sure if Kels gets an opening he will expose Abraham.

Kels has gotten better each time i've seen him fight - since he fought Bronco McKart ... his defense has gotten better and his movements have gotten better. He has deceptive speed and agility --

I think that Abraham will get knocked out by Kels in around 5 rounds ... no question about it. I can see Abraham throwing that wild **** and getting floored by a short compact punch.

I think that Abraham should make that fight in the US ... i'm sure he would get a warm welcome - especially if he can have a fight or two in NY at MSG ... maybe he appears on an undercard of a Kelly Pavlik fight.

Maybe both of these guys face legit contenders ... Maybe the night of undefeateds ... Pavlik v Mora ... Abraham v Duddy ... I'm sure that would set up a nice PPV bout between the two. It would be the first unification bout since 01' when Nard faced Tito for the undisputed MW title.

After 10 title defense ... i'm not impressed by Abraham though ... he doesn't seem to have gained any skill or tighten up on what he already has.

You're probably right, but I could only find these pictures, and if I put Pavlik a big higher, they won't have eye-contact anymore...

Let's say Pavlik's legs are buckled and that makes the poster just fine! :hi:

Smurf Abraham is the one that looks dazed. Maybe you should choose another picture?

I was about to respond to a post in the other thread that is now closed. It mentions 'assult' but not 'battery'. So they arrested him for giving EM the finger? :nut

its really a pick em fight, BUT Pavlik does know how to establish and keep that range he loves to fight at, unlike Miranda so there goes the idea of a early blow out for Abraham.
However when Pavlik did fight Taylor on the inside, anytime Taylor threw a series of shots he got the better of the exchanges so I expect when Abraham does get in side he will be better served there and will beat Pavlik there.
Honestly this is a war Hagler Hearns type of ****, but I think Pavlik stops Abraham late in this fight but not until after both men have beatin the life out of each other.

There's a fact people are overlooking especially when talking about Pavlik's high and Abraham's low activity level (which is true). Arthur's defense is very good and (not counting the first Miranda fight after the injury) he usually takes very few punches and barely takes clean punches.

In the first Taylor fight Jermain landed half of his punches on Pavlik and 65% of his power punches, so out of every 3 power punch he threw, 2 landed! In the rematch that supposedly proved that Pavlik can box very well, Taylor still landed 40% of his shots including the more meaningful blows, and landed 46% of his power shots. That's a horrible number if you think that Pavlik controlled most part of the rematch - and still took amost every 2nd power punch Taylor threw...

Abraham throws few but lands with high accuracy and connect percentage - and with cracking power. And he takes very few clean shots, while his flurries and counterpunching is very very effective.

Pavlik throws a lot and the jab-staight punching is pretty effective (well, 32% landed - 34% of power shots - in the second Taylor fight is not THAT good). He's got great power as well and breaks down opponents with it. He's got a great confidence in his style and that's very good. But unlike Abraham, he's taking a lot of punishment even in controlling a fight and it's easy to predict that he'd take even more punches if a fighter would be able to break his gameplan and take away his jab.

    It's a 50-50 fight.

Are you saying that Abraham is on a similar level as Miranda? He just mopped the floor with Miranda and you call them similar? Did you watch the fight???

I remember how many people called Pavlik limited, just a slugger etc. before he fought Taylor. Seems to me that both Pavlik and Abraham have mastered styles that work very well for them, no matter how much they may deviate from the boxing manuals. I still would favor Pavlik, but if anyone can beat him at 160, it is Abraham.

I voted Pav. by decision, but not without doubts. It all depends on Pavs. game plan. He should box from a distance and try to keep the compact AA @ bay with his height & reach advantage. Pav has enough skill and power to accomplish this. If Pav goes for the war of attrition approach, he has a very good chance of being KTFO. AA is a freakin monster puncher. Other than the first right he landed on Miranda for KD #1, the other meaningful punches did not look like they landed all that cleanly but still toppled Miranda. Should be a great fight!
