as far as one punch power, its tough to say pav has more in one shot than bute. bute can crack as can kelly. the two men have very high ko ratios but get to the ko differently. bute is a slick and quick and is able to come from sharp angles. he also goes to the body better than damn near anyone today. kelly on the other hand wears people out with that right hand. bronco mckart commented after being stopped by kelly for the first time in his career that everything kelly throws has something on it.
Good point. I am clearly biased and not at all considering Pavlik's recent performances, rumored personal problems, lack of confidence and history at 168 when making my prediction.
You didn't ask me, but I'll chime in anyway. It's not about how hard you hit. It's about how good you hit. Look at Abraham: Pavlik and Bute both have higher KO ratios against generally better opposition, but AA probably has more one-shot power. Arthur has more power, but Kelly and Lucian are both better at knocking people out.
no..but you are giving Andrade more props than deserved to give more credence to Bute getting slapped around.
I've got severe doubts about Pavlik's chances against the best 168 pounders. He didn't look particularly good against Taylor in the re-match at 166 and we all know what happened with Hopkins. I think he loses handily to Ward, and also comes up short against Dirrell and Bute. I'd make him the underdog aginst Abraham, Kessler and Froch also, although he has more of a chance in those fights. Having said that, I think Andrade is a perfect match-up for him. Andrade's style of marching forward and hoping you tire yourself out by punching him in the face, isn't going to meet with much success against Pavlik. Andrade either takes a prolonged 12-round beating or Pavlik stops him.
You may be right, although Andrade won, what, 2 or 3 rounds of 16 against Bute? Hopefully Pavlik lines up a fight soon so we see where he is at. I don't think he has much of anything left but who knows.
Everytime someone makes that statement their credibility takes a huge hit. Hopkins failed twice. Winky failed. Pavlik won, and to this day he is the only man who holds a decision win over Jermain Taylor. The comment you made is something that ought to be reserved for blind and ignorant haters.
I'll rephrase - he didn't look anywhere near AS good. Even though Pavlik won the rematch, I thought he looked a little sluggish and didn't look at any point like he was going to recreate the fireworks of their first fight. Whether the drop-off in his level of performance was due to the extra weight, or just simply that Taylor fought a lot better, I don't know. Either way, this fight (even though it was a good win) didn't convince me Pavlik would be capable of being the top guy at 168. Like I said though, Andrade would be the perfect fight for him to make his mark at the weight and build up some momentum.
I think this would be a war of attrition , not a pleasing fight on the eye , i like this fight , if Kelly has any aspirations of doing anything big in this division Andrade would be an excellent marker , i actually really do have time for this fight , what id really like is to see Arum throw caution to the wind and hijak the joke of a fight with Bute and Brinkley and see if he could get Kelly in with Bute !!!! , that just aint old Bob's nature though ........
