Pavlik needs to test himself. He hasn't done that since his loss to Hopkins. His best wins were against guys who fight flat footed and stand right in front of you in Taylor and Miranda. I wonder how he would do against guys who don't stay in one place and can box. You wonder if he'll be able to locate the target or if he's just too one dimensional to do that. That's the real test. Is Hopkins that good or will slick boxers always give Pavlik trouble? That's the question.
I love Bhop and i really think his a master mind at boxing but don't forget he didn't win by KO since 2004!
Easy.....Hopkins was the only fighter out of Pavlik's 36 opponents that did NOT just stand perfectly still, hands down, and allow Pavlik to pummel the **** out of them. What do I win?
These questions are very fair. I can't think of anybody that Pavlik fought that really showed him a lot of movement until Hopkins. He looked like a little boy lost when he had to cut off the distance himself, rather than relying on his opponent to come to him. Taylor has quick hands, but he doesn't move his feet. Miranda, Zuniga and Zertuche are more or less sluggers. Bute could show him some movement, but also Pavlik is a relentless fighter that will put a lot of heavy handed pressure on Bute the same way Andrade did, with more precision infact. This fight would answer both their weaknesses.
bute and pavlik both have great but different skills. like a lot of fights, it depends on who can fight THEIR fight. if pavlik can dictate the pace, timing and flow of the fight i see him wearing bute down and doing like andrade did in the 12th but much earlier. if bute can dictate the fight AND remain disciplined, he will use slick movements and combinations to pick up points and dominate rounds from the distance, occasionally stinging kp but playing it safe. pavlik is more consistent and has fought better opposition but i see bute as being a better pure boxer. tough pick to be sure
Anyway, its a no win fight for the ESB experts. They'll say Bute never was. Or Pavlik was never the same after Hopkins.
Its simple,if Pavlik wins they'll say Bute was unproven, and found wanting at this level. If Bute wins they'll say Pavlik had a cold.
Agreed , but Bhop don't hit to body with the same intention then Bute!If Bute doesn't use his body shot (wich i think are his powershot) it could go the distance but i still think Bute UD , Bute will be bigger, faster and move a lot better! But Pavlik bring the thougness and a great chin . FOTY contstent for sure! It,s a pleasure to exange with Pavlik fans , much more intersting and much less biased then the Froch nuthuggin bandwagons!
Or gee whiz Bubba -- maybe there is at least AN OUTSIDE ****ING CHANCE that Thomas Hausser told the God Damn truth about Pavlik's physical condition before the Hopkins fight. Put up a ****ing poll and ask if Hauser is a reliable source. Of course he is, except when it comes time to bash Pavlik. you ****ing people are growing more delusional by the day. Two weeks ago a Pavlik/Bute thread would run somewhere between 50/50 and 60/40 for Bute. This thread is utter ****ing non sense.
Pavlik is kryptonite for Bute. A pressure fighter who keeps coming. Andrade already showed that even with less skill than Pavlik that was enough to make Bute crumble. Bute is kryptonite for Pavlik since he is southpaw and has pretty good footwork. Hopkins showed how that can be done. _________________ So they bboth poresent problems for eachother. However, Bute resembles Taylor in terms of agility and movement and Pavlik did ok there. And although Andrade had Bute viurtually out cold, he still got the win. So - who would win this? Quite even in my oppinion.
