Pavlik VS Calzaghe--October 2008?

If it were up to me Cardiff and Cleveland would both be OUT. In Cardiff you get a huge pro-Calzaghe crowd. In Cleveland you get a Pavlik crowd. I would be in favor of more neutral territory.

 

MSG makes the most sense for neutral territory as there would be as many Calzaghe fans as Pavlik's although Calzaghe would probably still have the edge with a few thousand brits making the trip.

But as we all know money talks and I'm sure Pavlik would take the payday over the support.

 

I don't know about that. Kelly really appreciates all his fans coming out & I'm sure 1/2 of Ohio would be heading east to NY (MSG), which is the Mecca of Boxing & this HUGE fight deserves to be there. Kelly isn't money hungry & there will be plenty of big fights to rake it in before he's done.

The older you get the harder it is to make your body accept pain. Somethings you just can't fight when you age. Hopkins just looked like someone that shouldn't be in there.

Calzhaghe would win this by wide UD imo. Mainly because Pavlik is not the type to neutralize an opponents best weapon(s). So Cal will just throw a hundred punches a round to Pav and he won't let Pav get any type of leverage on his punches.

 

Out of interest, what was the attendance for the first and second Taylor fights?

 

One of the things about fights in Vegas, it's not so much the Live Gate (though I'm sure it counts a large % too), it's the site fees the Casinos pay to have the event held at their place. Along with HBO/Showtimes money, that's how they get the BIG $$$ without having 60,000 fans there.

Look at PBF/Hoya, what was the attendance? 20,000 maybe? And both fighters still got payed over $20 mil easy.
