While Calzaghe expressed a preference to face Roy Jones Jr, a bout with Pavlik would probably pay more, although at a higher risk.

Lets hope that negotiations are still ongoing between Warren and Arum, I think it comes down to which fight will make him the most money now...without doubt everybody wants to see Calzaghe vs Pavlik it will be a huge fight..I just hope that either RJJ prices himself out or Calzaghe and co are playing games,will see sense and sign up to fight Pavlik!

 

Well, the fans might be paniced, but Arum has been in the game too long and knows Warren too well. Warren knows Pavlik has enough on his plate with out Joe. Both of these guys had an idea of what the fight was worth to each other before they started talking. Not exactly newbs here.

The best we can hope for is that they are testing public reaction.

Correct. This is the fight the public wants to see. I'm an avid Calzaghe fan, and I'm trying not to jump to conclusions, and maybe it's a promoting/marketing ploy, but from what I've thus far read; This doesn't look good for Calzaghe in my eyes. Basically, Pavlik wants to, and wouldn't mind the fight. Arum publically said that Pavlik vs Calzaghe is priority number 1. Warren is leaving it up to Calzaghe. Whether this fight gets made or not, is squarely on Calzaghe's shoulders.

 

This was my time line. One thing that is missing is the January 2008 interview where Calzaghe said fighting Jones would be a let down, and that he wanted his last fight to be with Pavlik. Here it is.

He is more or less committed to Abraham in January '09. Provided of course Arthur gets past Miranda again.

 

Abraham still has the belt, win or lose against Miranda.

 

Cal dont want the fight.
Pavlic too tough and much too dangerous.
Cal's face is right there for Paliks right.
Reach, power, toughness all Kelly plus he has speed and punch output as well.
