If this fight is a go that means that Taylor has declined the immediate rematch. It tends to suggest that his handlers seem to think that he won't win a rematch without some serious retooling. I tend to agree though I can't see them waiting too long. So perhaps the fight after Duddy, you may see Taylor back for the rematch. Otherwise Pavlik may be tempted to challenge Calzaghe(if he wins) and I think Taylor wants that fight.

Wright in his prime would be a real challenging fight for Pavlik. But the Wright I saw in Hopkins wouldn't be. Only Winky will know if by dropping back down to 160 and losing that added weight will bring back his old magic. If it does then Wright might be able to face Pavlik sometime next summer. (assuming he wasn't just blowing smoke when he said Pavlik was ducking him) If it doesn't then he can probably go without the concussion and leave Pavlik to the younger fighters.

From his last fight, I think Hopkins really doesn't have it in him to make 160 anymore without draining himself. And I don't see Pavlik moving up in weight for anyone other than a Taylor rematch or a match with Calzaghe right now.

Calzaghe would be good. But it looks like Pavlik isn't willing to wait for the Calzaghe-Kessler fight before scheduling his next match. Maybe they can coordinate their schedules afterwards if Pavlik is willing to move up in weight. He's 25. He can probably maintain the 160 weight for many years to come.

Pavlik really does need to work on his marketability before crossing over to Europe to face Abraham or Sturm. Neither Euro-fighter is that well known in the U.S. and Pavlik isn't really well known in Europe.

Sergia Mora probably won't face Pavlik. The guy skipped out on Taylor because he felt the crowd in Memphis would be to pro-Taylor. I'd be surprised to Mora actually commited to facing Pavlik.

Pavlik will probably avoid junior middleweights like Oama and Spinks. Not that he can't beat them, but I think Pavlik prefers facing big, aggressive boxers. ( Unlike Taylor who was criticized perhaps unfairly for avoiding them )

So now we're down to Duddy. He's an unbeaten fighter with a strong, local fanbase. The fight should make a lot of money and will likely increase the marketability of both fighters. ( Assuming that Pavlik doesn't completely dominate or Duddy doesn't get lucky ) And the way I see it, that's a good thing for a more marketable Pavlik will be able to get a wider variety of fights against even better opponents.

 

Bull****? KP deserves an ez fight, no question about it.

Duddy is too green. This will be an easy defense for Pavlik.

I actually prefered Taylor's title defenses..Hopkins, Winky, Ouma, Spinks

 

then do what was done in the past make it a 10 round non title fight. imo once a fighter becomes champion he should take on the top contender out there. not a so called easey fight. as a champion, he no longer has that luxury to take an easy fight. ask yourself. if champions in other sports were allowed to take an easy defense of their championship would it be ok. if your answer is no, then why is it ok in boxing. fighters work their way up the rankings in order to someday have a shot at the champion. why should they be passed over because the champion wants to take an easier fight.

 

Really? ya know, I made sure I watched the beginning of the game last night cause I had a feeling it might be KP throwing out the 1st pitch & the jerk offs didn't even show it.:fire

But its a marketing ploy. They are still marketing Kelly because hes the new champ. After more people watch his style and he gets a bigger fanbase then they make the mega fights and slap it on PPV. Its only business. Its the boxing business.
