Would the Duran that fought Hagler, Moore and Barkley beat today's Pavlik? I say yes.

Maybe I'm being biased but Duran has the tools to beat Pavlik.

I think so also. Takes a good person to beat Duran, and Pavlik would be an easy target for Duran, even Duran of 1989. Pavlik is the kind of guy Duran liked. A guy who stood in front of him. Someone who gave him angles was trouble. And no way Pavlik could knock him out like Hearns did. Hearns was one of a kind fast and great.

7 inch height advantage for pavlik, and prob. alot of reach, power.. Pavlik wins this one by close UD, or MD

The Duran who defeated the Barkley who KO'd Hearns ?

    And last night's Pavlik ?

I'd give Duran the definite edge.

I am a massive fan of Duran and have always been a little sceptical of Pavlik.

I too think Duran could win this based on his best middleweight form..But I dont think by a lot.
Definitely some comparisons that can be made with the Barkely fight...Kelly does some things better than Barkley, some things about the same. And Roberto only just won that one.

Right now I would go with Roberto to take it...But Kelly still has a career to forge.

Duran is top 10 ATG .... I would give him the edge, but I still give Pavlik a chance, he is 6'3 , got good reach, workrate , chin , power and decent skill.

    dont mistake a 154, 5'9 duran for a 170 lb defensive master B-hop

at 160, kelly is too big and could take duran shots and he would punish duran in the late rounds..

overall, at this stage in pavliks career, duran is better, but head to head at 160 there is no way a so-so defensive small guy is going to beat pavlik

duran certainly doesnt hit as hard as the mammoths taylor, miranda, and b-hop so ther is no way duran could hurt him...

it would be alot like the margo-cotto fight

and alot of you are basing this off the duran-leonard performance compared to an avg pavlik performance, if they are both peaking there is just no way duran can take shots for 12 rounds from someone the size of palik... pavlik is basically a SMW and would any of you all take duran against kessler or calzaghe, i hope not to duran is waaay to small..

duran isnt any better than cotto and would any of you think cotto can beat pavlik??? pavlik hits ALOT HARDER than margo, margo KOs 5'8 147s and pavlik KOs 6'1 160s

Duran is 5'7 , but he still beat Barkley toward the end of his career and well past prime ...Barkely was no slouch at MW and was 6'1 ...

Pavlik is bigger yes, but man... Duran was something special.
