I have a different take on it. If Duran fights like Duran and applies constant pressure to Floyd he wins by KO.
I honestly don't know how anyone can watch Duran - Leonard's first fight and concluded that Floyd would beat Duran, it's hard to believe.
Lost all his big fights? -Buchannan - DeJesus -Cuevas -Leonard - Moore - Barkley your hate clearly deludes you from seeing the facts. You are just embarrasing yourself.
Are you talking to me? Mate the start of that post was directed to you in response to you saying that Shane had fought everyone at lightweight around his time but the end of it was for RETURNOFTHEKING as I stated..I couldnt be bothered with him anymore. Not having a go at you...I can at least discuss things with you.
no you are deluding yourself. those fighters you listed aboe where not duran's best opposition. as a matter of fact you can't find one atg at 135 duran faced. duran's biggest fights were: 1. Leonard 3 times--tkoed and quit in the rematch 2. hearns 1 time--koed in 2 3. hagler 1 time--lost a ud 4. Benitez 1 time- lost a ud that fact that you put an old cuevas as one of his best wins shows what a nuthugger you are. ****ing pathetic. buchanan, dejesus, cuevas (already koed by hearns), moore and barkely are nothing when you compare them to fab 4.:deal duran was fighting in one of the greatest eras and went 1-4 aganst the best.. ain't no 5'7 lightweight going to 160 and beating a 6'3 kelly pavlik..duran koed easily
it does mean something, **** 6 months earlier duran had defeated barkley how the **** does beating barkley mean something but losing to ray leonard again mean nothing..nuthuggery at it's finest but don't worry I will expose younono so in your mind it was ok for duran to quit before ray started to really emabarrass and beat on his ass:deal duran quit because ray ran from him...can you really believe the **** you type. well we got a chance to see the conclusion of the no mas verdict 9 years later and the result was the same ray leaonrd by UDadmin why didn't duran prevent leoanrd from doing his thang in the 2nd and 3rd fights. you are so ass backawrds it's funny. you duran fans are so stuipid it's beyond belief. more revisionism, ray almost koed by roberto get real..roberto was given the gift decision because ray didn't box him..the 2nd and 3rd fights show how you beat a roberto duran type fighter who was verry beatable in his career.. some body had duran's best wins being: buchanan dejesus leonard cuevas( what a joke a shot fighter already destroyed by hearns) moore (for ****s sake the guy was 12-0) barkley that is not top ten atg:deal not even top 20:deal now if he had beaten: leoanrd 3 times hearns 1 hagler 1 benitez 1 then you can talk about him being top ten and even top 5 would be fair.
Ok..lets some that up. You have said *Duran was in his prime (or near enough to be meaningful) for 3rd Leonard fight. *Duran was given a gift in the first first fight..You are the only person I have ever heard say this, not even Leonard or his team even said this..so you have just proved yourself to be an uneducated hater with this post. *Ray almost knocked out Duran in the first fight. Those 3 points are so beyond stupid that you will probably be forever remembered by them on ESB. Great work, you just proved my point even further.
I didnt say he ducked anyone..He was on borrowed time there anyway because he was obviously so big for the weight. You cant blame him for not fighting everyone but the fact remains he did not fight every top figther in the division during his reign there. Stevie Johnston being the big name..With Bazan being another one. Artur Grigorian was well thought of around that time and though he wasnt a big name, he was a very good fighter during the time Shane was champ and many feel he was the best lightweight of that era..He just didnt get to prove it. Contenders like Manfredy, Mendy (who did hold a title at some stage when Mosley was champ), Robinson, Caradona et al could have been suplemented for some of Shane's weaker opponants and his record would have looked better. There were a couple of other titlists around at the time but they werent really viable options..So again its no knock on Shane but to say he was undisputedly the best fighter there around that time cant be justified. I think he was and I personally think he could have beaten everyone but he just didnt prove it against the highest possible calibre of opposition at the time. His record was solid not that much more.
Bazan was an ok fighter but he scored a draw with IMO an overrated Joel Perez...He had a nice run till he fought Johnston... Manfredy woulda been a good opponenet but Shane woulda beat him in 6 or less!! Grigorian wasn't well known though he woulda made a great opponent for Shane-Agreed! Johnston is the only name there that you could say Mosley ducked if he ducked ne 1...Mosley wanted the fights but he couldn't get them for money or some other reason....I'd still favor Mosley at LW over Stevie today-Mosley was huge at LW and Stevie wasn't that big at all..Mosley was a beast at LW and very exciting!
