I hear ya bro -- What's worse is that Ayala came within 30 seconds of making the distance. Pavlik/Abraham seems like an important fight right now, but if one stops to consider the big picture == an entire career == at the end of the day fighting or not fighting AA won't matter anymore than the fact that Arguello never unified any of the 3 divisons he ruled. Abraham is to Pavlik what Arturo Frias was to Arguello.
:huhThat's different though, unless you had Ayala WAY the **** ahead on your card, with AA coming thru with the last minute KO?
Does not matter, in this case, my response to his post was "going the distance" and not making getting KTFO in both cases by a lucky punch.
Hey certainly. I mean Miranda was highly rated when he first took on Abraham and Abraham beat him. Honestly both fights I rank in the same quality. Pavlik has THE defining win as the MW champ (a good win over Jermain Taylor in a tremendous fight) and Abraham has Ghevor on his resume (one of the more underrated MWs around). Outside of that? A lot of Pocket Rocket Lockett's, philly journeyman fighters, Mustaches, Chipmunk Ayalas and tons of chaffe.
Arriba, you seem like an unbiased poster, WHO can Arthur challenge other then Kelly in your opinion to make his stock go up. He challenged Sturm twice, which is a fact, declined. He has called out Pavlik a couple of times, fact, arum wants his stock to be raised. Sauerland offered a fight with WInky, WInky priced himself out, as usual. WHO ELSE is there left? PAUL WILLIAMS: Excuse will be he beat a 147-154 pounder. Mundine: I would fear for his health. CASTILLEJO, GAELE, ???? Arthur is obviously staying at middle for a fight against Kelly, I have no doubts about this, but what he should be doing is moving up, I think he can be a force at SMW. Your thoughts?
From my own personal perspective? I'm of the belief that Abraham vs Pavlik is ready now. Sure a fight against Lorenzo or Sylvester would go a long wa towards building credence but this fight is WAY WAY WAY long overdue. As to who he fights for a PUBLIC build up? It's not WHO he fights. It's where he fights. He could fight Sturm, Paul Williams, Sebastian Sylvester and Inigo Montoya all on the same night...but I think Arum wants him on Network TV consistently before Arum will even seriously consider putting together Pavlik vs Abraham. He needs prime time showcasing and against somebody casual boxing fans have an idea of. I think that's why it was a good step to bring Abraham to Florida against Miranda on Showtime. That was a good step towards recognition and winning him some much needed credibility in the United States. Getting the Oral fight on Showtime was a good move as well as it'll be a nice continuation of things for Abraham in terms of showing him off. Oral will probably get blown out too which is always a good deal. Get him on a few more Showtime cards especially against Lorenzo. The real catch is getting him onto HBO, which is probably Arum's next request. At that point if Saeurland is asked that much, they should just back away from the deal entirely.
Damn fine post, Sir. And like SHARK said, you are about as unbiased as a poster as there is on here. Honestly, I read most all of your posts, and I really can't guess who is your absolute favorite fighter.:good Keep poppin' out the brain candy brother, it's appreciated.:good **Although, IMO, AA could do just fine getting on HBO. If (when) he smashes the **** out of this Oral fella, HBO will prolly jump on signin' him up. They've (HBO) been kind of known to "snatch" a fighter out from under Showtime once they get "hot".
I'm actually a really really big fan of Pavlik. In fact I remember nearly losing my mind when he went down in round 2. Boo and I have defended Pavlik from the Abrahamites on a number of occasions, I think Boo is a great poster as are you. I consider Boo to be a tremendous poster and a hell of a guy, as I do other Pavlik fans like Hermit and yerself. I just don't believe that Bob Arum has much of a plan when it comes to Pavlik. I said that when he first one the title. I honestly think Arum is a shrewd guy who plans every moment of the waking day to the most minute details...but he just stumbled into Pavlik. I mean has any fighter been tied to more opponents in recent memory than Pavlik? I also think Arum is out of it when it comes to Pavlik's fan base as well.
Another fine post, as expected.:good I completely agree about Arum, everything you said. PLUS, he really "band waggon hops" for which ever of his fighters is the "hottest", it seems. Right now, that's obviously Pac-Man, and while it's like that he seems to just put all his other guys on the back burner.....if that makes sense. Some inside news I got, but sorry to say I cannot REALLY share (or I'll get cut off, ya' know?), backs up what we're sayin' here too. I mean Arum tryin' to stay Hell Bent for a ****in' Mora fight when all fans, media, *cough*Team Pavlik *cough-cough*, name it is full on against that **** of a match. AND NOW, he's puttin' Pavlik on these shitty ass mini-PPV's, like Pav's some ****in' JC Chavez Jr. or somebody. The man is the ****in' MW Champ of the World, and Arum's not even gettin' him on HBO or Showtime.:bart
I agree to a point, you and everybody agree it is the fight to be made, I am just wondering why it has to be so heavlily marketed? I think most fans of the sport know who arthur is(from the miranda arthur 1 fiasco) and there is no doubt eveyone knows Pavlik. To make a long story short, with the boxing enthusiast AND pretty much ALL of Europe knowing who Arthur is, I am still not buying arthur is not yet known, maybe in the states, yes, but out of the states, people know who arthur is.
This is worth a second "quote" for TRUTH! He did bring Pav back to Y-Town, yes, but in a got damned building that held 7,500 people!:huh:verysad You should have seen not only the stories in the papers etc. from people that drove from all over Ohio, WV, Pennsylvania, and further, only to get denied tickets at the window. 15 ****in' minutes after they went on sale. Now, secondly, you should have seen what I would estimate to be over 1,000 people standing outside in weather that is on par with Siberia (when Rocky was there) just tryin' anything to get tickets. It was unreal. Now why can't he bring Pavlik back to that area with a venue to comfortably accomodate all the others that wanted to PAY MONEY to see their champ in action? I just don't understand.:!:
