Just watched it again last night, was wondering if people think this would have gone any differently if it had happened before Hopkins moved up in weight? How much did the size increase go against Pavlik and help Hopkins, or would Hopkin's movement always have won him the fight? (Also there were all the rumors flying around about Pavlik being sick before the fight, i never heard if they were confirmed or not, does anybody know?)
Hopkins wouldve battered him whatever the weight. Hop was at his peak when a middleweight. KP just isnt on BHOPS level.
KP was always gong to have stylistic problems with someone like B-Hop. If he matures greatly and becomes a more versatile fighter in the next few years then, Prime for Prime, we might see a different outcome; but, for now, Hopkins wins a UD.
Agree, BHop would school him anyway... Pavlik said that he could't apply strength but Bhop was never really bothered by one's power except for the "so called lowblow" by JC So if they have fought at 160, it would be the same!
depends on when in bhop's mw tenure. i hated seeing bhop fight at mw towards the end of his reign b/c he was killing himself to make the weight. man can you imagine what he would have done at 168 if he decided to move up sooner. its been reported the amount of roadwork he was doing to make 160 was above and beyond what anyone else did to make a weight by far. early mw bhop is probably a shutout again...late mw bhop is still a UD but probably not a complete shutout. just like pav has jt's number or forrest having ssm's...bhop has pav's. it just works that way sometimes
This is quite an intersting read........ http://www.secondsout.com/columns/thomas-hauser/pavlik-hopkins-boxing-is-a-cruel-teacher
Here the serious explanation: it's grasping at straws to "imagine" a mythical fight against a weight-drained, inactive, weak Hopkins who cannot hold up anything remotely looking like a workrate from the distance, just to imagine how Pavlik could, would, should, might, would have to, possibly could, maybe even, beat Hopkins, if not for all those totally unfair disadvantages to him. Add the usual not breaking a sweat grandezza to your liking. Bernard Hopkins vs. Kelly Pavlik: 120-108 beatdown, or worse.
Same **** different toilet. Hopkins takes Pavlik to school again & teaches him boxing 101 + a detention notice to boot for not learning the first time.
X made him look like a slow and stiff robot. Full credit. It would happen any time unless Pavlik gets more co-ordinated and a whole smarter in his approach.
