Right now, I think Hopkins has slowed down too much. Pavlik would rack up rounds early and end up with a clear UD, if not a late TKO.

It's not Hopkins skills that I'm knocking- it's that no champ can stay dominant forever. I think Hopkins at this stage would get backed up by Pavlik, and that's not a position Bernard's used to dealing with. Combine that with the workrate difference, and I think Pavlik takes it.

Prime Hopkins is another story of course, but let's not pretend that beating older, and in Winky's case, naturally smaller fighters is the same as beating a heavy-hitting young bull with a chin who happens to be in his prime.

I disagree. Hopkins isn't going to back straight up against Pavlik. He is more apt to circle and smother. I do imagine Pavlik would win the early rounds against Hopkins, but that's where the test would begin.

Hopkins isn't going to get tagged by straight rights the same way Taylor was. Even when tagged, Hopkins almost never gets hit flush, alway rolling with punches or getting out of the way of incoming fire.

It would not be an easy fight and I'd never count Pavlik out, but Hopkins ultimately makes Pavlik fight HIS fight....and if Pavlik is tired, Hopkins gives him a valuable lesson.

    Hopkins by fairly easy UD.

Hopkins is too clever, too good. Pavlik is far too one dimensional to compete with Hopkins, even on his zimmerframe.

Tall pressure fighter? What you mean like Tarver? I think Hop would break KP down unless he has seriously aged(which is seriously possible!). I think Pavlik would have a hell of time finding hopkins. That said Bernard didn't look too good against winky and pavlik does set a high output pace...so who knows. I would go with Hop by UD. Also KP has not faced a lot of highly skilled guys and figuring out BH is no easy task.

This would be a close fight that would go the distance. Pavlik would give Hopkins some trouble with his workrate, good jab, reach and his power would definately give Bernard something to keep him honest, but Hopkins has things many intangables that Taylor does not. He has the better chin, better defense. He the superior infighter over Pav, something that Taylor did not enjoy the luxury of, and he is the dirtier, meaner, and most importantly SMARTER fighter. On the outside I give Pav the slight edge, but midrange and infighting goes to Hopkins. This would be a great fight and I could see it going either way, but I don't think Pavlik has the speed to beat Hops. Something that Taylor had over Ex.

No one knows what will happen. There is really no way of knowing. Too much thought wasted thinking about this. Sure it will be competitive.
Pavlik is a slight favorite IMO. Taylor has better chances of beating Pavlik in a rematch than Hopkins has. Taylor may very well defeat Pavlik in a rematch. Why not. But of course, no one will ever be able to take away from Pavlik his historical victory yesterday.

I do not believe Hopkins can win. Pavlik will wail on him for 12 rounds. X has a great defence and a great chin so he'll go the distance. He simply isn't active enough and if he tries to be he'll give Pavlik more opportunities to put the hurt on him.

Pavlik is pretty responsible when it comes to avoiding right hands. If you look you'll see that Taylor dropped him with a left hook, not a right hand. All Hopkins does theses days is stay on the outside looking for right hands.

He still has good defense but his punch output and activity is very low. Pavlik wins this one abit easier than most think imo. He won't stop Hopkins, but his activity level and his pressure earn him a decisive UD.

I disagree. Hopkins would have a much better chance than Taylor. Styles.
