Most people have obviously seen and heard of Pavlik but what is known about Lockett, I wouldn't mind seeing some videos or reading articles about him. All I seem to find is that he likes to brawl a little but he has never been tested and that he avenged his only loss. Wouldn't mind learning a little about him if anyone can help out. While I would have liked to see Pavlik fight a little better named opponent, I can't complain about him facing a mandatory to get it out of the way.

i used to like Gary Lockett, he is very well spoken and was a real go getter 4 years ago , then he had a couple of major setbacks and never been the same, i really can't see what he brings to this fight , he is 5 years past his best and even then Pavlick would have blown him out , i wish him luck , he is a quality dedicated guy , but luck, he will definitely need, he is in above his head....

    He's average.

This is a bigger mismatch than Pavlik - Duddy...

Dont blame KP, I think he deserves a gimme, most champions get em and Locket does have a good ranking by the WBO (He can thank Frank for that one!).

    He'll make Kelly look good.

This is just a stay busy fight with a good back-story. I also think that Enzo Calzaghe may be using Lockett as the proverbial sacrificial lamb to learn more about Pavlik, and see if Slappy Joe really wants to fight him.

Whats he gonna learn? How to keep his kid from getting KO'ed in 7 instead of 10 rounds?

Lockett has a punchers chance, but then again i think Taylor and Miranda hit harder and neither of them budged Pavlik (apart from the 2nd round).

Good stay busy fight for Pavlik that should end in a good k.o. to enhance his rep:bbb

Kelly Pavlik would be the easiest nights work out of all the world champions in or around the weight, for Joe Calzaghe...

I've seen two of his fights and he looked very average. I'm sort of shocked that he's even getting a shot at Pavlik.

I see the angle for the Calzaghe fight and I really like Andy Lee vs Rubio on the undercard. That gives story lines to future fights for Pavlik. I don't want to get into the Calzaghe-Pavlik debate but if it does happen i think it is a great fight beacuse they both throw so many punches. I definitely see JC giving Pavlik fits with his style but I don't think Pavlik is afraid to face him and still give Pavlik a chance against him, both guys just don't know how to lose. Great fight though. Thanks for the info on Lockett, I would think this is a hard one to promote but Pavlik has such a following now we'll have to see what happens.

Nobody thinks Lockett can win. IF Warren thought Lockett he wouldnt send him to the States to scupper a potential money winner like Calzaghe - Pavlik...

I would have liked to see Abraham on the card too but you can't have everything. He needs a fight on American TV before a unification fight to make it big. Still think Pavlik is intent on unifying the titles though and think he stays a middleweight for another year and a half or two unless he gets a lucrative fight with Calzaghe before that.

I think if Calzaghe beats Hopkins and Pavlik keeps on winning that will be Calzaghes final fight.

I think Calzaghe would beat Pavlik fairly easy, not saying Pavlik is crap, just that styles make fights and at certain times in the Taylor fights Pavlik was having trouble with Taylors handspeed, so double/treble that with Joes and i think you would have a clear ud for Joe (or late stoppage).

The thing that pisses me off about Calzaghe and several other guys is that they keeping calling Kelly out, but NONE of them have EVER offered to meet him at 160. If you want to call a guy out, you need to be willing and able to meet him in his own division; PERIOD!

Calzaghe - Pavlik would be a better fight at 168, not just because KP is a big middleweight and could do it comfortably, but because Joe would be a stumbling dried out corpse at 160...

That's my point exactly. Joe keeps calling out a guy who has clearly stated his goals; unify the titles at 160 before moving up. If Joe can't make 160, which he can't, he needs to shut the **** up.

If Calzaghe moves back to 168 after BHop and keeps his titles, and Kelly were to move up without unifying because of trouble making 160, the fight would make sense. Right now it just looks like Joe trying to lay out a false claim that Pavlik ducked him.
