Even though Pavlik fought above the middleweight limit in his past fight, he still tried to keep off a lot of muscle because he is going back to defend and hopefully unify the middleweight titles. If given the right time to put on the muscle for SMW, I think Pavlik can handle and compete up there as well as he has a big frame as it is. I don't know how big Calzaghe is but Pavlik definitely has a struggle to make middleweight everytime and my guess is he is around the same size as Calzaghe without the muscle mass.

Pavlik will always employ a similar tactic as Calzaghe by throwing so many punches. They differ in that Calzaghe probably doesn't hit as hard but has more speed and elusiveness. Great matchup if it ever happens. Don't know if Pavlik will be ready to move up when Calzaghe wants to have his farewell fight though.

Calm down. Not once has Joe Calzaghe said Pavlik is ducking him, nor has it been suggested by anyone else. Well other than you in that above post.

Calzaghe Vs Pavlik is a good match, linear 168 champ vs linear 160 champ, history is littered with simlar title fights. Calzaghe hasnt said Kelly is ducking him just suggested it would be a good fight. Which is true.

If Joe loses to B-Hop (I think this will happen) the Pav v. Joe C match loses its luster a bit....

Pavlik/Lockett doesn't do a whole lot for me.

Atleast Hbo is making this some sort of tripleheader.

Lee/Rubio and JM Lopez/DeLeon those 2 fights are a fine card by itself, so Pavlik/Lockett is a sort of bonus.

I understand Pavlik has to face Lockett eventually, so what ya gonna do?

Pavlik needs to run through this guy impressivly though, thats what the good ones do.

Let's face it; the "casual fans" out number us boxing nerds 10 to 1. Pavlik/Lockett should make Pavlik look like an absolute monster to the casual fan. If HBO does this right they will focus partly on the fact that Pavlik had to fight two eliminators to get his shot, and destroyed both opponents. Then as the number #1 contender he destroyed the champion. Now, as the newly crowned middleweight king he destroys the number 1 contender. See how that plays out? Add in the sub-plot that Lockett is a Calazaghe trained fighter, and the second sub-plot that Andy Lee is an emmanuel Steward fighter, and we have a regular ****ing soap-opera! Very marketable situation!

Pavlik should win by very brutal knockout.
