There are numerous posts on this thread that are just plain silly. Most of them are based on some bazaar hatred of Pavlik rather than any kind of actual anlaysis.

Martinez gave Williams a really rough night, but Paul Williams is a welterweight who does not fight anything like Pavlik. I watched several rounds of Martinez/Williams earlier today, and I've seen the entire fight twice. I guarantee you Pavlik/Martinez won't look anything like Williams/Martinez.

Sergio's defense is almost as bad as PW's. He mostly relies on athleticism and speed rather than any sort of fundamentals. He charges in without throwing anything on his way in, he backs out in straight lines with his hands down, and the fact that PW scored one of the best connect rates of his career against Martinez is very telling. Martinez is easy to hit, and that is not even debatable.

Martinez was very aggressive against both Cintron and Williams. Against Pavlik, that same level of aggression would get him knocked out, and knocked out early.

One huge difference between Cintron, Williams, and Pavlik is that Pavlik actually knows how to cut the ring off. He won't follow Sergio around the ring like a lost puppy the way those two did. KP will cut the ring off, bully Martinez back to the ropes or into a corner, and knock his ass out. How long it takes depends on how aggressive Martinez is willing to get. The more aggressive he is, the sooner Pavlik closes the show.

I have a feeling Martinez will get aggressive early and may throw his game plan out like Zertuche and Espino... Mexican fighters like to brawl and If that is the case, it will be a 7 to 8 round fight.

I think their game-plans were to pressure KP.

    Sergio's from Argentina:good

I'm a fan of Martinez but am surprised to see so many people picking him over Pavlik. I wouldn't bet a nickle on him. He won't be able to keep Pav off of him and will get caught with power he's never felt before. Pav by KO is what I'm going with.

I think the fight will be pretty close and competitive for the first half of the fight, but in Pavlik's favor as his strength and power wear Martinez down.

    Pavlik TKO8

    Pavlik TKO :good

And despite everyone just about picking him to lose the fight, expect him to recieve little credit when he stops Martinez.

Pavlik is going to pump that jab all night and once Maravilla feels the power hes going to think twice about throwing anything, Pavlik clear 115-113 decision or late tko

Its not like Pavlik is hard to hit, freaking Espino landed 45% of his punches against him. Martinez is much faster and his punches much more strait. Add that to constant movement and Pavlik may be in for a long night.
