Since when does is the Espino fight a relevant basis for an analysis of Pavlik? The man had half a training-camp, half a hand and the best part of a year lay-off.

And as we all know, Pavlik's approach certainly isn't predicated on defensive prowess.

Judging by how fickle fans on here seem to be, I think he'll get a little more slack than usual. The haters won't disapparate, though.

Kelly's left hand wasn't 100% so he didn't have the jab to control distance and decided to just go to war with Espino. I doubt the 45% connect rate anyhow. If so, they weren't meaningful shots. I was within 'ear shot' of the ring so I know which punches thudded and which ones didn't.

Ya know what Pavlik did in the Espino fight? He spent the first couple rounds active, but really just lobbing his shots, looking for holes, and feeling Espino out. As the fight wore on Kelly's hand speed picked up, his defense tightened up, and he found a combination of things he could do to land powerful shots, and then he stopped Espino. Jesus ****ing Christ! Kelly Pavlik went out and fought like Kelly Pavlik! God Damn shocker I tell ya!

So any source confirming this fight yet :huh

All I can find is "deal in the works' news....

‘Combate Space’ (a network that broadcasts boxing in Spanish all over Latin America) announced that a deal is in the works to have WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly ‘The Ghost’ Pavlik (36-1, 32 KOs) face WBC Interim junior middleweight champion Sergio ‘Maravilla’ Martinez (44-2-2, 24 KOs), of Argentina. The bout would take place in April on either the 17th or 24th and be aired on HBO.

It's been "in the works" for a couple weeks. All signs point toward it happening. I think they are just waiting for Jack Leow to return from Germany before an official announcement.

Martinez is crafty but Pavlik's stamina and power should wear him down over the course of the fight, I see a possible late stoppage. Martinez was running on fumes by the end of the Williams' fight, he is not a ring general, spoiling, strong finishing Hopkins by any means.

I've got to laugh at people comparing Martinez to Hopkins, that's clutching at straws a wee bit. Martinez is a good fighter however and Pavlik will need to raise his game from the Espino fight if he's to be effective. I reckon Pavlik can do this though and his relentless style will get to Martinez and force a late stoppage. It's a good fight though, one the Middleweight division has needed for a while.

I love Martinez. Great fighter however his defense is a lil lapsy at times and against a hard hitting MW like Pavlik that will get him in trouble.

Hmmm i wanna say Martinez IMO but there is no way he gets a decision against Pavlik.
So Pavlik by either late TKO or robbery.
