A bit of talk going round that Pavlik maybe in talks with Mundine for a fight later this year.

    Anybody herd anything about this?

I dont think this fight will be made but you never know in boxing.

    Thoughts?

This would be one hell of a backward step for Pavlik.

It was bad enough fighting Gary Lockett instead of vacating - but to fight a guy who was KTFO by Sven Ottke is ridiculous :rofl

If this is true, he ought to be having serious words with The Bobfather to find out what the **** is going on.

to be honest i think paul williams would be mad to take such a fight on. yes he may struggle to make welterweight but to jump 2 middleweight agaist the man strongest in that particular division would be suicidal

With Abraham's schedule all tied up and Sturm who won't fight quality opponents unless forced by a mandatory Pavlik's choices are a little limited.

    Winky Wright -
Older fighter who hasn't fought in over a year and has a boring fighting style to boot. Plus has an overinflated view of his financial draw.

    Paul Williams -
Tough guy, but would be crazy to jump up two weight classes to take on Pavlik. ( He'll lose all his natural advantages )

    Sergio Mora -
Seriously not up to the task of fighting an champion-level opponent who isn't about to retire. Plus needs a lot of moola to get out of his rematch clause.

    John Duddy -
No defense wonder who'd be extremely wise to go to the 154 lb division.

    Marco Rubio -
Doesn't have the name power to get HBO to step forward and pay for the fight.

    Sebastian Zbik -
Another European unknown tomato can only even remotely considered due to his laughable WBO #1 Contender status.

Mikkel Kessler - Good fight, but I don't see Pavlik fighting at 168 yet for less than a Pavlik-Calzaghe level payday. He'll clean up the 160 division unless an offer too good to pass up comes along.

Once we get through all that Mundine may be the only name left.

Personally I think Pavlik should go with Winky. Give him some extra money to retire with and then .... retire him.

Winky has already retired himself with all the ridiculous amount of money he demands.

I think Mundine has come a long way since then and went 12 rounds VS Kessler.

I dont think the fight will be made but with most fights being ruled out for one reason or another you never know.

It was mentioned that Mundine would fight for Aussie PPV rights and give Pavlik 100% of the rest so this fight may become an option as a warm up for Pavlik until something better comes along.

Mundine has improved since the Ottke fight and did go 12 with Kessler, but was still on the end of a schooling.

They could make an offer to Abraham - **** the belts just get the fight on.

Its all about the money at the moment and nobody wants to take a pay cut or share.

Other than Mundine who if offering 100% of the takings to Pav besides Aussie PPV.

Remember it is a warm up and Mundine has good speed and evasion so it wont be a walk in the park......up until Pav KTFO of Mundine in about the 8th round. :yep

Still ... dangerous fight for Pavlik. Mundine does have some skill and has been in with some big punchers like kessler and green.

Whilst I would expect a Pavlik victory, Mundine could cause some problems and an upset wouldn't be out of the question.

    You are wrong, dude.

Mundine has been the Ring number three at SMW for several years. A fight against the SMW the Ring no. 3 is a tough fight by anyone's standards. Yes, Mundine in his first year in boxing met the world champ and gave him a tough fight before being KOed. People don't realize that Mundine did this without any amateur experience and walked straight into a World title shot in one of his first fight - amateur and pro. Who else have ever done that? Not many if anyone.

Mundine is a level better than anyone at MW except for Winky, Abraham and Pavlik.

If Pavlik fights Mundine he will have even more guts than I thought. I had feared he may try to make people believe that guys like Rubio, Mora and what not are worthy opponents.
