"Rubio has won seven consecutive bouts, including a seventh-round TKO of Jose Luis Zertuche in February. A year earlier, Pavlik stopped Zertuche in the eighth round."

I know this isn't always a good indicator, but looks even on paper. I only get broadcast TV so I don't see many fights. I'll try and get some footage of Rubio. Youtube quality crap just doesn't interest me much though.

I don't have a problem with this fight if Rubio turns out to be the WBC mandatory. Pavlik cannot unify the division without fighting his mandatories. It's the damn ranking system that sucks! Neither Lockett nor Rubio has ever beat a top 10 guy, and yet they magically appear in the #1 spot. That is TOTAL BULL****!

Rubio is fighting David Lopez this weekend if beats him he would beat a rated guy as Lopez is rated by the ring.:nono True :good If Pavlik fights his mandatories in Lockett and Rubio Pavlik will free to fight Abraham or Calzaghe:bbb I kind of like it when good med level guys like Lockett and Rubio get there chances title shots as long as the champ is this case Pavlik does fight elite guys like Abraham and Winky down the line:thumbsup

Jermain Taylor's first two defenses as champion: Bernard Hopkins and Winky Wright

Kelly Pavlik's first two defenses as champion: Gary Lockett and Marco Antonio Rubio

Simply put: there's one meaningful fight in MW: Arthur Abraham. So he should fight Arthur Abraham right after Lockett.

Part of putting this fight off is getting Abraham some exposure in the US. It is still a business.

And those two fights hurt Taylor career because they were bad style match up for the champ:-(
Lockett and Rubio are sluggers who will match well with Pavlik in terms of making good action fights that will make Pavlik a super star:good
In fact Pavlik next 6 fights are going to be wars that by mid 2009 make Pavlik the biggest thing in boxing.
    # 1 Lockett
    # 2 Rubio
    # 3 Duddy
    # 4 Abraham
    # 5 Calzaghe
    # 6 Kessler
Pavlik will KO all of then in all out action fights and join Robinson , Monzon and Hagler as among the best 160 pounders in history.:deal

Obligated to point out that it said "Plan":good

I can swallow the Lockett fight after Taylor twice but I'd prefer Abraham next. Admittedly, Abraham hasnt been exposed as much in the USA and it would help increase that bottom line. Both guy's should get decent payday's for a real MW defense.

Pavlik will KO Rubio and Lockett but Abraham IS THE TEST!

I've confidence Pavlik will rise 2 the occasion:good
