Hi guys, Here's a little message I received from a fried of mine who writes for Doghouse boxing. NOTE TO MODS: I hope this is alright with forum regulations. Otherwise, dispose of this thread as you see fit. ----------------------------- Pavlik vs Taylor II with Malignaggi vs Bojado on the undercard? By Vikram Birring Doghouse Boxing has just been notified that the Kelly Pavlik vs. Jermain Taylor rematch is being set up for 2008. HBO PPV will televise. Also, sources have also revealed that Paulie Magic Man Malignaggi may make his first IBF super lightweight championship defense on the undercard of the Taylor vs. Pavlik undercard against Francisco Bojado, should Bojado defeat Steve Forbes on October 6. Another possibility for Malignaggis next fight is on the undercard of the long-awaited Floyd Mayweather vs. Ricky Hatton show on December 8 in Las Vegas. ----------------- THOUGHTS? DISCUSS!!:hi:
I don't think so...Malignaggi should fight on the undercard of Hatton - PBF and an immediate rematch won't happen...1 fight in between for each man...
Saying Bojado will beat Forbes is kind of jumping the gun here. Not too sure that Bojado would have ever beaten Forbes, unless he suddenly takes boxing more seriously than he has since he was an amateur.
I hate the fact that the rematch has to happen now. Not fair to kelly imo and boxing fans who still actually care that the middleweight bout should be fought at 160, not some bull**** catch weight. I want Jermain to do good, but hes gunna get his ass knocked out again if this fight happens to soon. He needs drastic improvents to his game, or else hes the one with a punchers chance because quick blowout will be the only way hell win against kelly. These two will NEVER fight to a desicion. Thats just crazy-talk.
An immediate rematch at 168 or 166 will just hurt Taylor who relies on speed to beat his opponents. An weight increase will help Pavlik more than anything.
I respect JT for an immediate rematch, but he should use some wisdom and take his time working on some basic fundamentals. Fight some legit tune ups and go for a title. I don't think he'll overpower anyone @68, so needs to sharpen his game up...@160 he's a lot larger and stronger and can get away with flaws in his game, but not at 68
Its great for Taylor cause he is getting older and filling out and it is apperently getting harder to make weight. He fights @ 166 anyhow so this will just elimitate the whole sweating out to make weight process. And additional 5 lbs for a big middleweight doesnt drastically affect anything...
regarding BOJADO, throw him in Thailand for a year...he'll come back with vigor and won't rely on talent alone
Malignaggi vs. Bojado.......I think it's bloody dangerous for him! Awful risk/reward ratio (if we see a motivated Bojado).
Kelly Pavlik and Paulie on the same card!!!!! BRING IT ON! I hope they are talking spring or later. Any sooner would be bad for both Kelly and JT. They need time to recuperate, and JT needs to fight at least one good tune up. After a KO any fighter needs that. Boo
If the rematch happens it's gonna be another 50/50 fight but it's gonna be harder for Taylor to win. The hardest draw back he has to overcome is the stigma of facing the guy who knocked him out.
