Ah, OK...then we don't agree. I thought Taylor was much more precise, clean and effective, beating Pavlik to the punch all night. His defense, ring generalship, and strategy were much superior, I thought. I thought Pavlik neede da KD/KO as early as the 9th round, to win.:good
Defense-Barely existent, although when you have as bad a defense as Taylor, any improvement is noticeable. Ring Generalship-Being backed up all night in circles not throwing punches isn't ring generalship. Strategy-Not punching much so you don't get gassed and KO'd again doesn't pass for much of a strategy.
His output was more ACCURATE than usual, but STILL NOT ENOUGH VOLUME. I cant give a round to a guy who backs up for 3 minutes doing essentially nothing, getting outjabbed, when he throws a 3 punch body combo at the end of the round. Taylor fought much better but not well enough to win and he was faded and hurt at the end.
But apparently didn't have the judges under their wing tonight as they supposedly have had in previous Taylor fights. What's up? Didn't the judges get the pre-fight memo demanding they score the fight for Jermain?
Ok...quite a few very good analysts agree with you...I cannot see it myself, but I am not that good as scoring fights...:good (BTW...my first language is Romanian, my second - English, my third - German, my fourth - French ) :good :good :good
It was a close fight, but I had it 115-113 Pavlik. I think Taylor fought as good a fight as he was capable of against Pavlik. He fought a smart fight but his activity level in most rounds wasn't enough. Regardless, Taylor IMO is still a world class fighter who can/will do serious damage at SMW. I think everyone needs to give both fighters their just dues. Pavlik out boxed (almost no-one thought that Pavlik could beat Taylor in a decision including myself) a world class boxer and Taylor made adjustments after a brutal defeat and lost a close competitive fight.
Taylor fought a good fight and had his moments but Pavlik was the effective aggressor and more consistent, that's why I gave all the close rounds to Pavlik.
I've had it 8 - 4 Pavlik. 116 - 112 I'm rooting for Taylor . . . but objectively that's how it came out of my scorecards.:yep
Pavlik 115-113. I thought it was close, but clear. Not truly controversial, like Taylor's fights with Hopkins and Wright. Pavlik dictated the pace of the fight and outworked Taylor. He was more consistent. Taylor fought pretty well, but didn't do near enough to warrant any sort of real complaint.
I had it 115-114 Jermaine Taylor! Hell of a fight I thought. There were 2 maybe three rounds that could have gone either way. I have no problem with anybody scoring in the range of 7-5 either way, 8-4 is pushing it, and 9-3 as one judge had it I felt was ridiculous. .....not suprising, but it goes to show that in a sport where hype is the name of the game, Jermaine Taylor only legit chance at victory tonight was by KO! I felt that both fighters worked of the jab extremely well.....and although Taylor was more economical in his output, his punches were cleaner and had just a little bit more mustard on them. Btw, HBO punchstat credited Pavlik with landing almost 100 more punches in the fight. I dont agree, I thought Pavlik was credited with landing alot of shots that were blocked or did'nt get in. In rounds I had Taylor winning rounds 2,3,7,8,10,and 11. Pavlik winning rounds 1,5,6,9,and 12. Round 4 I had even.
