Someone explain to me what is going on? A) is the fight gonna happen? B) what is the date of the fight? C) if the fight does not happen who is at fault Team Pavlik or Team Williams?
I think HBO still wants it but they want to screw Goosen for his 'infidelity' of being involved with Showtime and want the fight the same night he has a fighter appearing in the SMW tourney on Showtime. No one really seems to know what is going on at the moment, at least no one that is talking publicly.
Steve Kim wrote this on his message board last night... ---------- "Also, looks like Kelly Pavlik's hand was cleaned up with some surgery and he'll be ready to face Paul Williams on December 5th. But more will be known tomorrow"
How the hell are they going to fight on December 5th when HBO promised that date to Mosely? If the fight does happen in 2009, I would think December 12th would be a more feasible date.
The fight was scheduled for October 3rd. Pavlik got a staph infection and couldn't punch when he was due to start training camp. Arum postponed the fight indefinitely hoping for it to be rearranged for either November 21st or December 5th. Goosen objected to both dates and said he was trying to find a different fight for PW. Team Williams are coming out with more bull**** about knocking KP out, but they seem like they want the fight. We don't know whether the fight will or won't go ahead at this stage.
Pavliks infection wont be around forever. Once it heals Im sure him and PW will reschedule the fight. No one knows the official date yet, its all speculation but Im sure we will know soon.
Apparently nothing was ever set in stone for that particularly date. Remember the December 5th slot was originally supposed to be headlined by Andre Berto.
Well Richard Schaeffer has said that Dec. 5th is reserved for Mosley. I don't think Williams/Pavlik would be happening on HBO on that day. "I have confirmation [from HBO] and I locked in Dec. 5 for Shane at the MGM," Schaefer said. "We definitely have Shane Mosley from the MGM on the fifth. We are discussing if it will be Berto or Clottey. I talked to Bob Arum about Clottey and I'm still having conversations with Lou about Berto." Dec. 5 looked like a potential date to reschedule Pavlik-Williams, but Schaefer insisted that it belongs to Mosley. "I'm sorry Pavlik-Williams was postponed, but Shane wanted to fight earlier in the year and HBO said the earliest they could do it was December, so I talked to Shane and convinced him to wait until December," Schaefer said. "I'm not going to get off that date. That's not right. You don't play those games. Pavlik-Williams is a great fight, but it's not my problem that it got postponed. The MGM moved things around to accommodate us."
