I know it sounds stupid right now but i was just looking at the "Floyd vs Pavlik" thread and it had me thinking about this one, now everyone knows Williams is a massive welterweight and it's expected that he'll at some point move up the weight classes, right now Williams is the same age as Pavlik, he's taller, has a bigger reach, is a southpaw, has lovely technical skills and actually moves his opponants around the ring and doesn't stand on the ropes so even though it might seem like a pipe dream right now i don't think it's an impossible match up. Who wins this one?
Williams may become significant treat at 160 lb but he definitely isn't yet. He need to move up and prove he carry on his tools over there, he isn't as gifted technically as Floyd so it isn't obvious he will be good when he move up.
I also forgot to mention that Williams is a faster puncher than Pavlik too!!.. and speed was the one thing giving him problems on Saturday!!, the more i think about this match up the more i like Williams chances .
It's not certain that he'd be hit cleanly though!!, they said the same when he faced Margorito and that didn't happen, Williams chin isn't in question, i also feel Williams punch out put per round would give Pavlik extra cause for concern.
Erm have you ever heard of the term "filling out"? , many people thought Floyd couldn't handle 154 too!!. it's obvious Williams could compete at the higher weight class as he walks around at around 165 anyway!!.
Hi definitely will gain some frame, its common mistake to think fighter will move up with weight by carying the same frame atsch Hi will not grow up or bulky balls he will gain pure muscles. As an example you may see Hopkins at 175 vs Hopkins at 160.
Exactly :good , at first i was hesitant about this match up but now i'd love to see it happen as i feel Williams has all the tools to make it one hell of a fight.
This matchup crossed my mind too. Williams certainly has the frame to come up to 160, but right now Pavlik is too strong and his pressure style would cause trouble for the strict move/volume punch style of the Punisher.
Erm "thin bone" isn't muscle mas , your fronting because Williams would be a massive danger to your boys hopes, there's no question the punisher would give Pavlik the kind of problems he's never faced before, while Pavlik is no different to Margarito!!.
Yeah, and having a thin frame doesn't mean that you CAN'T move up successfully, so the difference is the same, Corrales and Williams are two different cases altogether.
Lol. it's funny how "big punchers" are now the flavor of the month and the technical cats get "walked through", all that and the man at the top of the game (Mayweather) is not a ko artist!!, that **** is funny , all Pavlik has is the right hand, take that away and he's in trouble and that is exactly what Willaims is capable of, and no "Margo" never hurt Paul, being hurt is what happened to Pavlik is the 2nd round on Saturday.
You don't have to be a massive puncher to beat Pavlik, Taylor hadn't knocked down his previous 4 opponants before saturday so Pavlik isn't a brick wall, Williams beats Pavlik with his tricky hit and move game couple with his speed in the southpaw stance and punch output, he would have the height and reach advantage too so Pavliks jab wouldn't be a major problem!!, Taylor outboxed him when the fight was at the center of the ring so why couldn't Williams?.
