As good as Winky is, i think Kelly beats him on points

Pavliks will be the agressor and kep coming forward like he did against Taylor and it will be very hard for an aging Winky to fight defensively as he does and look impressive for 12 rounds against a hungry fighter like Pavlik

I dont see how Winky can hurt him, win rounds on the backfoot and then win 7 of the 12 rounds needed to win the fight

I think if it happened it will go the distance, many rounds will be up for debate but Kelly Pavlik will win UD on a score f around 116-112

    Thats my take

    Calm. Down.

Sturm in the next ranked middleweight after Abraham, Winky is coming off a loss dont want to see him going straight for a title fight after that and Taylor has alreayd been beaten.

Pavlik would beat Sturm imo, but it is still one of the best matches at middleweight right now.

    No.

I don't care where he's ranked and it doesn't matter anyway, as he's the most protected fighter in the world. It's a waste of a fight for any top MW because anybody with sense knows what Sturm is. Sturm is almost a C level fighter, to be honest.

Winky's coming off of a loss, but not at MW and he's STILL better than Sturm by several levels.

That's 100% garaunteed, and it would be early. I wouldn't count a Pavlik KO 1 or 2 out of the question.

How? Sturm is not even a real top fighter. Abraham is a credit to European boxing, Sturm's nothing more than a lesser Ottke who doesn't recieve gifts. In fact, ottke probably would have knocked him out.

Winky's mere existance puts Arum and Team Pavlik in a tough spot. A few Winky/Pavlik threads popped up yesterday. If the sentiment on ESB is indicative of the rest of the boxing world, many, many fans feel this fight needs to happen. As most of you know I am one of Pavlik's most ardent fans, and even I think it NEEDS to happen. However, Winky is not the easiest guy to make a fight with. He will ask for a boat load of money, but he is not a proven PPV draw. That would make getting the money right very difficult.

Arum wants to make exciting fights. Most people agree that Winky is a bit boring. Pavlik is tied to a run of 9 consecutive KO's, and 12 rounds of high drama in the Taylor rematch. Arum would no doubt like to continue to market Pavlik as "one of the most exciting middleweights in history." A Winky fight could very well turn into 12 rounds of Pavlik hitting Winky on the gloves!

As for the fight itself, Winky has a way of making opponents look bad, and Pavlik ain't pretty to begin with. In my opinion it would be very risky to let this fight go to the score cards. On the other hand, Winky has never been stopped. So, what happens if Pavlik does stop Winky in the 10th or 11th? I can hear it now; no one would credit him with a great win. All the talk would be about how Kelly beat up an old guy past his best and fighting above his best weight.

It's a tough spot for Arum and Team Pavlik, but I still say "Make the fight, and let the chips fall where they may."

Yeah, if they drug Pavlik, he has a 20% chance. Seriously man, Castillejo starched him.... :-(

Sturm has been ridiculasy over protected since winning the regular WBA belt, but who was the last regular WBA champ that took a risk.

i beleive Sturms ranking definately makes this match worth while, in fact in most cases when the highest ranked fighters fight the champion it is appreciated.

im not going to pretend to be a Sturm fan, for the sake of a debate, because i simply am not. however after Abraham, Sturm is the next guy at 160, not Winky (not yet anyway) and definately not Tito or Duddy!
