tough one. winky is getting older and hasn't looked the greatest lately. if i had to bet it would be one him though.
I dont kno man. Winkly has hell of a defense. But I know If Pavlik catch him 1 good time, it may b over. Wink would b the under dog, and I normally rock with the underdog. Man I dont kno:yep
I think KP breaks through Winky's peekaboo style defense. Winky in his prime probably would beat him.
I'd no doubt be rooting for Pavlik, but c'mon Jets. He's apt to get schooled by top tier boxers like Winky and Hopkins.
Winky doesn't have the legs he once had, so he is rather stationary. He doesn't give different angles/stick and move. He now uses his jab and comes forward throwing volumes of punches. His shell-like defense works great against light middleweights and people of lesser size, but against big middleweights, he gets blasted. Look at what Taylor was able to do when he kept it in the center of the ring and threw power punches. Pavlik could compete with Wright in a jabbing contest because his jab is longer. However, I see him being the aggressor in this fight. He would blast through Wright's guard, cut off the ring, and bust him up in the corners. I see Pavlik's bodywork and uppercuts being a major factor here as well. Pavlik by UD or late TKO
That is not how I see things going if he fought the above mentioned. Once KP leaves 160, he'll be even more destructive @ a higher weight.
Great defense is not enough to beat Pavlik. If Winky had Haglar's Power, that would be a different story. I'll be the first to admit that as soon as Kelly meets up with a really slick and fast boxer with lots of thunder, he'll lose his zero. However, Winky is not that boxer. He has neither the strength nor the power to keep Kelly off of him, and as long as Pavlik can keep moving forward throwing 80-100 punches per round his opponent gets KTFO. Bronco McKart went 32 rounds with Wright, and one of those fights was close enough to be considered controversial. He lasted less than 6 rounds with Kelly! Taylor took Winky to a draw. JT lasted less than 7 rounds with Pavlik. Winky can't win this one, and for his own good ought to stay as far away from Pavlik as possible. Boo
If this happened mid way through 2008, Kelly Pavlik by UD. I think he would outwork Hopkins at this point and impress the judges.
