considering that pavlik holds a very significant size advantage over martinez would make it different than the taylor situation. martinez is pushing his limit to be at 160. pavlik at 164 with taylor meant they both were able to eat a little more.

you guys are over-exaggerrating how undersized Martinez is. He's always been a big light middleweight at 5'10. He's had over 7 months for his body to fit into the division, he'll be fine. It's not like Pavlik's power was frustrating him in the 1st fight.

pavlik is ****ed. he's too big for 160, and he's not good enough at 168. bye bye pavlik, downhill you go.

For sure. I don't recall any SMW belt being vacant and neither fighter holds any belts in that division.

He actually started as a welterweight, fought a welterweight for quite some time, then moved up. He has definitely transformed into a solid LMW. And he can fight at MW... but above that, it's a bit too much, especially at 35 years of age.

The only thing going for him is that he's really broad. So he's be able to carry a lot of weight. Like he did against Pavlik actually. Still... MW bout is MW bout. 164 is SMW. KP should look to challenge guys like Bika if he's no longer able to make 160.

TBH, that I think is the worst SMW match up for Pavlik possible and that ignoring the ongoing S6 tournament. Pavlik, with his come forward style and no lateral movement, despite being solid fundamentally, he can get hit.

And Bute... certainly has the tools to outbox Pavlik. And isn't put at any size/strength disadvantage, unlike Martinez was. Heck, Bute would most probably KO Pavlik. As Bute is one heck of a puncher.

164 is in the SMW range last time I checked.

Pavlik shouldn't be fighting anybody until he stops drinking Beer and gets his life back together. He showed up to the Martinez fight hung over and depressed. The guy has nightmares of B-Hop chasing him in a Freddy Krugger sweater through a dark alley.

**** him. Martinez should dictate the terms, how about staging it in California at 158lbs?

It wouldn't matter if they fought at Heavyweight Pavlik would lose. Pavlik doesnt have the speed. KP is sound fundamentally but doesnt have the speed to keep up with a smarter and much faster Martinez.

pavlik you dick. fight martinez at 160 or bute at 168.

all this means is martinez isn't bound by the rematch clause.

no, martinez shouldn't fight im at 164, giving away all the advantages. take an easy fight (duddy/chavez jr winner) and then line up the big fights (mayweather, williams).
