Bute would end Pavliks career in a New York minute. The only fighters I would pick against Bute are Andre Dirrell and Andre Ward. Pavlik is just another fighter made to showcase Butes skills.
I thought Kelly Pavlik did Ok last time out against Martinez. Martinez clearly won the first 4 rounds but after that Pavlik started to cut him off, Martinez was unable to move side to side and could only go forwards and backwards enabling Pavlik to land more successfully and start to dominate. He showed he has a good boxing brain. It was only when Martinez cut Pavlik above the right eye that he got back into the fight and assumed control again as Pavlik had trouble seeing the left hand of Martinez. Full credit to Martinez who showed a lot of skill and more than deserved the victory but to say Pavlik is done is plainly wrong. He's obviously too big for middleweight but he would give any of the Super 6 a close fight.
:huh It was only til Martinez stepped on the gas and started beating the crap out of him that he opened that cut to begin with. Pavlik seems too one dimensional for the top Super Middleweights. A Pavlik vs. Crotch fight would be awesome, though.
Yeah, he landed a big left hand that opened the cut, from that point on Pavlik couldn't see the left hand of Martinez. Martinez knew this so he doubled up the left while moving to his left hand side. That moment swung the fight back round to Martinez. Pavlik had controlled the previous 3 or 4 rounds. Pavlik isn't finished. He's still young. There's more to him than puncher.
This is true. Pavlik is fundamentally sound as well but an elite slick, and smart fighter like Martinez or Bute will beat him 99 times out of 100.
I'd say Bute would beat him 51 times out of 100. Martinez beats Pavlik 99 times out of 100 if he cuts him in the same place in 99 of those fights.
The problem is he seems to have lost his focus, or his spirit. Or his motivation. Will? He's lost something anyway. He's always has good skills and he is still very young, but he gone off the rails now, who knows if he'll come back to win another title.
