    Well obviously not.

Exposed is one of this boards most overused terms.

If Pavlik were "exposed" - Then Bernard would have provided Rubio with all the information he needed to at least win a ROUND on the weekend.

Getting dominated and being exposed are two different things in my opinion - That's more a semantic argument - But look - Pavlik has lost ONE fight to a future hall of famer and beat the man who beat him twice including once by KO.

He is not exposed, he put in a bad performance and was dominated.

It's too soon to say until Pavlik fights someone of an A class fighter - Abraham is the sort of guy who could lever from what Hopkins did - That is the fight at 160 that I would like to see to gauge is Hopkins exposed anything other than the fact B-Hop is a freakish once a generation talent.

You purposely shyed away from the topic. You said he isn't overrated cause Hopkins didn't give Rubio on info on how to win? Who the hell is Hopkins, Rubio's trainer?

Like many's another fighter, he's nowhere near as good as many of his more ardent fans thought he was.

He beat a highly over-rated Pantera and that led to some unrealistic hoop-la around him.

He had two close fights with Taylor and those were his best performances.

(First fight was close because he was within seconds of being KO'd in the second and would have made him a topic of Rico's posts for the next 40 years. A calmer finisher would not have let him get away.

And the second fight was close, well... because it was close. Kelly won, but a decision for Jermain would not have been a huge robbery).

And while he's not as good as some thought, he's not as bad as many on here make him out to be.

He did beat Hopkins' two-time Daddy, twice. He weathered the fury of the panther and KOd him.

He is at least a top four middle wt, possibly the top one at this point, who can still make middlewt. ( I personally rank AA ahead of him, but that could be just me.)

    He continues to improve.

But he needs new training of a type that will take him to a higher level.

Whether he beats AA or loses (if he ever gets around to fighting him), he will shortly be the best at MW as AA will move up and there's no-one on the horizon who can trouble him.

Exposed is way too strong of a word. Many of us always suspected he was somewhat over-touted.

He is a very good middle wt with the potential to improve and become a great MW.

I can't go against that. Rocky sure showed Clubber what happens when you fight an all time great who can go back to the gym and learn how to box like Apollo.

OK, I don't want to get into the trainer thing....but for all other weaknesses you listed, please list me a couple of fighters that TOP Bernard Hopkins in those categories. PBF is the only fighter on earth to come close.

This is the most sensible and accurate assessment on this entire thread.
you took the words right out of my mouth.
Just because a fighter is not improving at 100 miles an hour does not mean that they are not improving.
Making improvements will mean that you have to 1st make the mistakes to rectify them so his fight against Hopkins was good for him, a wake up call.
He has the physical attributes but in my opinion he needs a trainer to show him new things, more technical things like footwork, maybe introducing more co-ordination training, something different to what he has been accustomed to.
He is a good fighter lets not get it twisted for all you haterades.
He just needs the right guidance.

    Dude, you're like a ****in' Boxingologist n' ****.

I hope you find that description fitting and comfy.

Be good and be good at it.

I might find this observation "Writing on the wall" if I were as wrapped up as someone like yourself, but I'm not.

    Peace.

You don't think he "might" have meant Rubio could have WATCHED how Bernard did it? I mean all the threads are saying since that fight is ANYBODY(!!!!!) can use lateral movement and EASILY beat Pavlik.:!:

I'm sure Mr. Hopkins was the first person to think of this.....either that or there truly is ONLY ONE Mr. Bernard Hopkins, who happened to have the self proclaimed "Best Perfomance of his Entire Career" that night. Sure, anybody can fight like Hopkins, all they have to do is watch his fights.

Didn't you know that? All anyone has to do is do what Hopkins did and easy win. Hell, do that and beat Tito easily as well. I mean, the 'blueprint' is right there. It's SOO easy to copy an ATG fighter like Hops....anyone can do what he did to Pav or Tito.

Fritz and poundcake are in a love fest tonight. They agree on this topic so they are upping their post count trying to become VIP I guess. I just watched the fight over. At one point the camera is directly behind Rubio showing him trying to hit Pavlik and Kelly is just moving his head enough to get out of the way, grinning and toying with him. Yep, no head movement, no improvement, cuz they agree with each other.

That fight was the very definition of getting exposed. That fight made team Pavlik change up Kelly's training regimine. Loew has also vowed to have Pavlik box more. That Hopkins fight opened their eyes. They knew something had to change for Kelly to continue to be successful.
