Really? Did you watch the Lopez fight. Lopez would not have seen the bell in the 11th had the fight gone on. Pavlik beat the crap out of him in the tenth and had him ready to go.

Arum offered Chavez to Pavlik as an inducement to keep Kelly at 160 after the Martinez fight. After initially accepting the fight Freddy Roach thought better of it and nixed it.

dude the speculation that Lopez would not have seen the bell had there been a round 11 is irrelevant it was a 10 round he didn't need to exert himself anymore..... the problem is Lopez is a complete bum and won at least 4 rounds and arguably 5 vs Pavlik. A fighter with a 2-5-3 record just beat Lopez more convincingly..... Pavlik has a long way to go and long climb back to legitimacy, I'm rooting for Kelly but don't think he's got it in him IMO his best days are long gone and he spent too much time dicking around. Still I wish him the best and hope that if he doesn't get back to contender level that this move helped him beat his demons at least, seems like a good dude.

Pavlik didn't look good at all in his comeback fight, i'd say that Pavlik would get easily beaten by Jr.

The only way Arum will let Pavlik near Jnr is if Pavlik struggles through his comeback without losing. In the unlikely scenario that Kelly gets back to form and starts producing quality KO's,there's no chance Arum will risk it.

  5. Chavez is utter trash. Pavlik would destroy him.

The system has gotten to favor those that can cut weight best. It makes it harder for those guys working regular jobs on the way up trying to break into the ranks of those fighters that can train full time.

I've watched Kelly for a long time. True, there wasn't a lot to gauge his performance in his last fight but I also saw some things we haven't seen in a long time from him in that fight. Speed looks good in training but TFFP once pointed out he always looked faster in training than in the ring. IF he gets back to the speed he had in the second Taylor fight he would be competitive with anyone at 160/168.

Alfonso Lopez took his "punishment" in losing a 10 round dec.
Rubio took his "punishment" for 9 rounds

you have to go back to 2007 before finding a win vs a top guy at 160, jermain Taylor.....
lets let him beat a ranked guy first before you crown him the killer he once was....

Chavez has gone from stupidly overhyped, to stupidly underrated. Chavez is tough, relentless, has a great chin, and will punish you inside. He's going to be a tough out for anyone, not saying he's unbeatable or anything but you better bring a lunch.

Even if Pavlik isn't the same fighter he was when he was champ I still expect him to beat Chavez Jr. His style is all wrong for him. How's he gonna make 160 though?

Kelly has no outside or inside game to speak of. He would have to control the distance to be effective. I doubt he has improved markedly in the inside/outside game in just a few months time. Unless he learned it earlier and just stored it away he ain't picking it up that fast.
