Pavlik will KO calzage

Calzaghe is effective from the outside, contrary to what you believe.

pavlik may ko calzaghe.
he has power and great finishing abilty.
but when analysing fights you have to look how fighters have done v similar styles before for your best guess how fights will pan out and what is effective.

watch kessler v calzaghe and then kessler v anyone else.
kessler has a better jab than pavlik is a similar style and also throws the straightest punches 160 and above.


clazaghe fought 3/4 of the kessler fight from range and in that particular fight straightened up his punches for 90% of the time.

the right hand of pavlik i will give you will be a danger through 12 rounds.

calzaghe will take away the pavlik jab IMO and without a jab pavlik will find it hard to find the range consistently with his right hand.

 

Kessler had a better jab and right hand too.....more accurate to boot.

But Pavlik presents even less angles and gets hit too much for someone like Calzaghe right now.

Let Pavlik grow a bit.

 

Pavlik's right hand does accumulation damage, he's busted up Miranda, Taylor and Zertuche for those KO's with continous right hand lands, flush I might add. It's not like he'd land one bomb while losing badly and spark Joe, that's ridiculous. His power is overrated, his finishing ability and efficiency with punches are creating these KO's, not Julian Jackson level bombing ability.

 

pavlik has power , but will need calzaghe to walk onto one and freeze in a corner for pavlik to finish him.

IMO that is not going to happen( the freeze in a corner bit)

calzaghe will move to pavlik`s left all the time, come in and out on angles, find it easy to land straight lefts and just keep busy.

calzaghe has looked good in the past v long /tall stand up boxers.

pavlik has it in his locker to try and change that where calzaghe`s other opponents did not in that pavlik might try to walk through calzaghe, but IMO calzaghe will just use his feet and headmovement to slip under the oncomming pavlik, spin him and counter.

its exactly what hopkins gameplan was v tarver when matched with a stand up boxer and calzaghe will be able to implement it.

IMO its a much easier style match up for calzaghe .

IMO if i was kelly`s promoter i would keep him at 160, its not a fight that he needs, he will make money in the future and the style of calzaghe is all wrong for him and he does not need to move up in weight to prove himself.

 

If Kessler couldn't do it I don't see Pavlik icing him. Joe has a nice chin, and will stifle Pavlik with sheer workrate.

 

I won't bother giving you a history lesson about Veit, Reid, Woodhall or Sheika who were all outside fighters that Joe beat on the outside and inside.. I'll simply point you to the Kessler battle.

Kessler prior to that fight had hardly lost a round and had never had issues winning from the outside against anyone, Joe won that fight from the outside and outjabbed him.

To believe that Pavlik is better than Calzaghe at jabbing is absolutely stupid.

 

calzaghe went in behind nearly 600 jabs in the kessler fight.

its what won him the fight, changing up from an inside fighter to an outside fighter and calzaghe is a counterpuncher at heart, he does love his opponent coming onto him.

watch a few calzaghe fights v aggressive fighters, he does not back up, he just uses angles and slips of to the sides, hardly ever with his back to the ropes and when he is there he spins off and turns fighters.

he is not invincible makes loads of mistakes and takes loads of chances so kelly has a chance to win, just if you are basing it on styles , calzaghe has the skills /experience and where with all to know what to do with pavlik`s style.

pavlik cannot get sparring for calzaghe/never faced anything remotley like him /so it is guess work to know what he will try to implement come fight night.


you have to guess that pavlik will adopt his usual fight assets which is stand up tall/ jab and right hand.
