Taylor was the only one to be close. In that one Pav jumped up too quick from a hellacious barrage of shots and his balance was **** for a good few seconds and if anything the a gun shy ref could have called it. Zuniga nailed him with a quick hook, Pav was up at 2 and nothing, flash KD (very similiar to Joe with Bhop). McKart caused his glove to brush the canvas. Not close to being KO'd there either, and that's it.
Nope, dude. Calzaghe will do a Lacy on him - Not quite as one sided, 'cos Pavlik's a better fighter than Lacy, but still a reasonably easy UD for JC - Stylistically he's perfect for Calzaghe - Why do you think Calzaghe's been calling him out? The man's no fool...
More like the complete opposite. Calzaghe loves come forward fighters like Pavlik and would pick him apart all night. Pavlik is way too one-dimensional to overcome someone like Calzaghe even though he's about 4 years past his prime. Providing he still has enough in the tank Calzaghe stops Pavlik around 8 or 9.
You have probably only seen Pavlik against brawlers, Zertuche, Miranda and that's even how Taylor fought (especially in the 1st fight), but Kelly will suprise you with his angles, hooks, bodyshots and lefts. He hasn't had to use all his attributes in his last few fights, but believe you me, he has a complete arsenal. He is ambidextous and has knocked out several opponents with his left. He even has an amazing ability to redirect punches in mid swing, something not often seen.
Pavli was suppsoed to KO Taylor in the rematch ..Its funny but a guy gets two KO's and he will KO everyone ??
HBO had a perfect replay of this in round 1 vs. Miranda. Miranda was leaning to Pav's right after he started the punch and Pav rolled his wrist out to the right to drive it home. Too many times you would have seen fighters go ahead and roll thier wrist to the inside and miss completely.:yep
pipe wrenched, you are right about sean. He is a great poster, much underrated and is one of a handfull of posters this place is built on. I am a big fan! But what is this talk I hear of you leaving if Pavlik loses to Calzaghe?:huh Not only is that very silly - any fighter can be beaten - but why would you feel so bad if Pavlik lost to Calzaghe, of all people, particularly when he is at a stylistic disadvantage?:huh Who care what some of the Calzaghe nuthuggers would say?:huh
I wish I had copied or saved the forum page right after his two fights with Taylor. Top to bottom, before Pavlik had even made it to his dressing room, were all threads reading the likes of: "Oh yeah, well Calzaghe AND Kessler would beat his ass!!". It appears firstly to be important for them to capitalize the "AND" in that statement. It was so bad, we couldn't even talk about the fight that had just taken place, and even had to start a thread or two reading " Pavlik and Taylor DO NOT fight at 168" (at the time). It's ridiculous. And yes sir, Sean easily stands out as one of the very finest posters on this site.
