I don't see see B-hop getting under Kelly's skin. It's not his personality. I say he sticks to a well regimented game plan all night long.

IMO, Pavlik won't stop or even hurt Hopkins.

Well yeah probably 3 to 4 years . . . he is the kind of fighter who is sleek and doesn't get punished in his fights . . . but it's getting boring and ugly. He moves, he holds, he ties you up and throw about 10 to 20 punches per round . . . jesus . . . this can go on maybe until he is 60 years old . . . not unless somebody lands a solid punch that will send him to the home for the aged. :deal

Bernard fighting when he's nearly 50 that would be mad.

I don't know how long he can last but even in old age he is a stylistic nightmare to almost anybody. If he loses to KP it will only be because he's old. I am quite fond of Bernard as he was the fighter that got me into boxing.

In their primes, this is probably not a fight. Hop I think beats Cal and Pav. right now, Pav will win because Hop is just old now. His punch output is getting less and less effective with each fight. He might do better against PAv than he did against Hop even though he did well early is because he will be fighting a fighter with a conventional stance. Pav wins, but Hop as usual makes everyone look bad. I have a bad feeling about this fight with PAv. Hop might've taken on one too many young gun...

Pavlik could KO Hopkins if he goes to the body early and often, but I doubt he has the discipline to commit to that so:

    Pavlik by wide UD

Bernard has more to fear from the jab than any other punch. Kelly MUST keep Bernard on the end of his jab a good deal of the time. Basically if you could take away the jab, you'd diminish the right hand by quite a lot.

Some smart posters on here have made good arguments for BHop based on him neutralizing the jab. Even I have said numerous times that's the key to beating him.

Kelly has a monster lead right to both the head and the body, but 90% of the time he sets everything up off the jab. He uses it to send people backward which gives him the split second he needs to pull the trigger on a big right. Or, many other times he merely flicks it into the guys eyes to disguise the right hand that is already on the way.

Kelly gets accused of plodding forward. However, that is bull****. He inches forward behind his jab. Take away the jab, and you totally **** up his style.

I'm 100% certain that BHop knows exactly what Kelly is going to do. Why did Emmanuel Steward say KP will only be competetive with Jermain for one or two rounds? Because he knew exactly what Kelly was going to do. Why did McKart say, "I'm just gonna take him out in deep water and drowned him?" Because he knew exactly what Kelly was going to do. Knowing what he is going to do, and stopping him from doing it, are worlds apart.

I'm sure Hops thought he knew how to take away everything before he signed the contract, but I always believe that about Hops.

...the fact that Pavlik is frequently underestimated doesn't change my mind, because I believe Bernard is the last person to underestimate an opponent...he accurately assesses the situation to the best of his expert ability.

I am not saying Hopkins KO1, but I am saying Kelly will have to rely on volume, and that will include a lower accuracy jab vs. Bernard...the big right is just going to be very difficult to hit Hopkins with.

Actually, the fight before last against Winky Wright, at 42 years old, Hopkins threw more punches than he has in years. People are putting alot of stock in some of the lapses Hopkins may have had in the Calzaghe fight, but in this game at the very end of a career a fighter can alternate brilliant and awful performances one after another, out of nowhere. Hopkins is the last guy you can put a peg on.

I agree Hops will not under estimate Pavlik. I also agree he'll come in with what he thinks is the right plan. My point was really that if Hops could take away the jab, he'd take away 75% of what Kelly does.

You mentioned volume, and we are talking about a guy who sets his sights on 100 punches per round, and sometimes makes it. So what if that drops to 800 over 12 rounds? And, what if Pav's normally very good accuracy drops to 28%? (i'm just picking random numbers here for the sake of debate.) With those numbers you'd still have Bernard getting hit 224 times by a guy with really heavy hands.

I'll stick to my prediction. Pavlik KO10 Hopkins. I'm not dissing BHop. I'm just saying 43 is ****ing ancient against a guy with a 90% KO ratio.
