with cotto looking for a good payday and williams looking for a belt, the fight shouldnt be that hard to make. also, it would give goosen and arum the opportunity to see that they can in fact make a big fight together
Dbouzine you know I ****s with you... but let go of pw vs pavlik... its done... This **** ain't worth discussing any more....
yeah, i hear ya. it just sort of occurred to me who these guys would probably be fighting instead. i'd been saying all along there really arent any other options but it seems there are. i believe very strongly that williams/cotto will happen if cotto can get past foreman. a beat down will also happen but thats besides the point
the whole thing is stupid.... the way pavlik's team handled the fight in its early stages damaged any chances of it happening down the line... especially since arum doesnt like to co-operate. I don't think it should be 50-50 but I don't think it shuold be 60-40 either.... it should be 55-45 or something like that either way its done for.... I would love paul vs cotto.... serving cotto to paul would be like giving scooby doo a scoobie snack
Don't think Pavlik/Williams will happen. Pavlik beats Martinez. Sturm won't fight. Pavlik isn't particularly patient and seems to want the big fights and the big money asap. HBO want Pavlik/Bute; they'll offer decent money for that and Pavlik will move up and probably lose. Game over.
It's nice theory "D," but it has to many moving parts. We also have guys like Macklin, Pirog, and a few others. If Pirog wins his next fight, the WBO will install him as the next mandatory. Macklin is looking for his shot as well.
sturm is supposedly pricing himself out. maybe hbo can come up a bit and he can come down a bit. who knows. but i feel that so much talk has gone about this that something can be done. if he is really that out of shape maybe his people will feel that a big fight with kelly is a good way to cash him out. i know he has a 10 fight deal but still.... wishful thinking here. i don't want kelly to move up just quite yet
i know...there are plenty of up and comers at mw that i would like to see pav fight but if not williams, i would like to see kelly unify the title.
The only thing I don't see happening is Cotto/PW. I can't think of a worse matchup for Cotto. I don't think he takes the fight. He said he wants 2 more fights. I see him possibly fighting Cintron down the road for PR bragging rights.
imo definetly do able..just hope it happens.. and if it does i am not coming on these threads...too stressful
He always says he "fight who my promoter puts in front me"... Well that line worked when Arum was protecting him from Paul, because like you, Arum realizes how terrible of a mtchup it is. But Cotto isn't the Golden Child anymore, and when Arum decides to cash him out, Cotto will eiether have to fight who Arum puts in front of him, or blatantly duck him without being able to hide behind Arum. What will Cotto say when Bob Arum goes public (like he did to Pac) and say he thinks this fight makes sense for Cotto?? If Williams fights and beats Cintron, and Cotto beats Foreman, there will be no way Cotto can justify avoiding Paul.
