Any deal involving Arum requires skepticism until it is signed. He's a slimy old snake, no matter how good he is at getting the "right" fights for "some" of his fighters. Ever since Williams beat Margarito, I doubted Arum would let any of his guys fight Williams (and he would not, until now, when it's a WW vs a MW).

Arum is most likely still displeased Goosen went to court to make Margarito honor his mandatory to Paul (after a year of avoiding it) and then on-top-of-it, Williams won! lol He didn't have a choice but to get Pavlik this fight because there is nothing else big at MW. I'm not blaming Pavlik for that, it's just business.

Is Williams getting the bigger guarantee?

Dan Rafael is saying camp Williams got upwards of $1.9M of the $3.75M HBO put up for the fight.

PAv must be getting the majority of the gate if PW receives more than half of the guaranteed money for this fight. PAv will make more than PW.

Arum did not have much to do with this fight. He was not involved in negotiations, and neither was Haymon. It was those two that blew it up last year.

HBO gave Pavlik a list of 4 guys they would air fights with: Balzsay, Sturm, Wright, and Martinez. Williams has been talking **** about Pavlik for over a year. Goosen ask about a 50/50 co-promotion around the same time HBO gave Pav the list. Arum told Goosen to buzz off with his 50/50, but Pavlik threw the HBO list away, and said "Get me Williams." Goosen ended up in a corner where he could either make the fight, or **** both HBO and Top Rank off big time. After your fighter has been talking **** for over a year you can't really turn down a career high payday on the worlds #1 boxing network!

The live gate will be enormous. Pavlik could sell out Boardwalk Hall fighting my mother, and that is not included in the guarantee. I haven't seen how they ended up splitting the gate.

You get upset when some Pavlik fans called PW a coward but you are doing the same thing to Pavlik. That's Hypocritical. You really think Pavlik was scared to fight Abraham? Ain't no professional fighter scared of another.

Glad Boo was wrong, this is a great matchup. Pavlik against a very quality opponent is always going to be a bloody exciting fight. Williams has a big set of balls to take this fight, props to him regardless of whatever the outcome may be.

Dan estimates a $2M live gate revenue--probably if they have a sold-out. Since Pavlik's camp wanted the whole gate, and Paul's started at half of it, maybe they agreed on 75/25 or something close.

I still say it's sad that it took this long for this fight to get made. Had it been made sooner, KP's reputation wouldn't have taken the tumble it did, especially in recent months. Just damn happy to get to watch this fight in 7 weeks.
