Taylor and Miranda had never been knocked out either, I think it's due time for Winky to have a KO on his record. That way he can't complain about it afterwards.
Pretty sure he will. Winky might take some of those shots to the gloves early on but by the 4th or 5th they'll start to seriously hurt him and Winky was never known to have great movement and will eventually open up if he wants to win this fight.
Taylor is no Winky; and he only got knocked out due to being over offensive in the second round! and are you seriously comparing Miranda to Winky?
Hello all long time boxing fan and first post. Kelly vs Winky will never happen. Two/Three years ago Kelly actively tried to schedule a fight with Winky but was turned down. Now that Kelly has fame and a good purse Winky wants to jump on. I believe Kelly still holds a grudge against Winky and would rather fight Lockett again before Wright. lol With that being said Kelly would crush Winky.
you've probably never seen winky fight you little ******, winky wright would outbox pavlik for fun, it'll be just like the trinidad fight.
Ouma fought a pressuring fight against an opponent with poor footwork and poor ring generalship; it's not surprising, therefore, that he was able to back his opponent up. As for Winky, he knew his best chance against Taylor was to put him on the ropes. He did so and thus won the fight; the fact that Taylor has serious defects as a boxer doesn't change this at all. I just think it's a little disingenous to detract credit for Wright's performance over Taylor on the basis that Taylor somehow let Winky win. I was going to bring out the "If they didn't know that Winky won, they clearly weren't well-informed" but since you've demonstrated a fairly objective view on this point, I'll let it pass. Put it this way: if Winky had got the decision, I don't think there would have been any outcry; if Taylor had got the decision, I think we'd hear as much about it as we do Lewis-Holyfield I. That said, a Taylor win would have been good in a way: it might have created a rematch and a similar scenario to Lewis-Holyfield II. I agree, I think people's chances against Abraham tend to get overstated. Abraham is in the mold of Carlos Monzon, Larry Holmes or Manny Pacquiao, in that he's been well-analysed as being easily beatable and certainly doesn't look unstoppable, but he's very hard for anyone to even hang in with. I can see Arthur having a longer and more fruitful run than Pavlik, for instance, even though Pavlik looks more the part of an ATG.
HAHAHA that fight was three years ago and Winky hasn't fought since last year. What makes you think he can hang with a fighter like Kelly who is in his prime and throws a ton punches with power and accuracy? Kelly would win in either an early KO or UD.
Plus Winky is 5'9, smaller then Lockett. Its hard blocking and seeing punches that come from overtop.
I think that Pavlik will win this fight, but it will be harder than he expected. Winky is great defensively, but in his recent fights it was he who was the aggressor, and with the exception of against Hopkins, (who looks good against Hopkins?), he looked good and manages to dictate the pace of the fight. Against Taylor, he went right at Taylor, confusing Taylor with his guard and his jab, and pushing Taylor against the ropes in a fight that many thought he won if he didn't give up that last crucial round. Against Ike Quartey, he was the aggressor again, going right at him, throwing what I believe to be more punches than he's ever thrown in a fight. And while he knocked Quartey down once or twice according to the refs, the replay's showed that at least two of those were not knockdowns. Winky was the aggressor again vs Hopkins as he lethargically chased Hopkins around the ring in a vain attempt to outfight him. A headbutt might have helped to discourage Winky, but he did not look at his best. Then again, Hopkins has a history of making fighters look bad. The point is, Winky might surprise Pavlik, and set himself within Pavlik's guard, inside of those long arms and try and outfight him. For a while, Winky's guard and range will make it difficult for Pavlik to throw punches, and Winky's superior speed on the inside will make it look like he has a solid chance of winning the fight. But as the fight wears on, Winky's age and lack of power will begin to show as Pavlik takes over and begins to find his range as Winky is slow on getting inside and his defense is beggining to get penetrated as he is strafed by Pavlik's thudding, straight punches. As the fight goes into the champion rounds, Winky feels the quit inside him building up, but he fights back valiently, but it is not enough and he is eventually pushed backed to the ropes and stopped as the ref jumps in to prevent the accumulation of punches being thrown by Kelly Pavlik.
Pavlik will not lose to Abraham or Wright. And why is it that AA is suddenly some kind of monster for beating Miranda, but people say Pavlik's only good win was over Taylor??atsch Write this down: Pavlik KO8 Abraham Pavlik TKO10 Wright Pavlik UD12 Kessler.
