Word on the street. Literally. Details scarce on how far reaching this could/couldn't be. Just a new manager? Promotion company? Trainer? The trainer seems less likely, but again, this is just starting to leak out. He does plan on fighting again. :think
Pavlik is done. No number of changes at this stage will ever get him back to where he was 3-4 years ago
Good riddance, Pavlik has been as mismanged as a boxer can be. Hope they match him up better and get him on a roll.
No offence man at all. But really who gives a ****. He just spjt in the faces of this hometown fans. And had a chance to fight bute. Yes i know he wasnt getting top buck for the fight but it was good enough for inactive boxing struggling with booze. Plus he looked like complete **** in his last fight. I wouldnt gie this guy more than 500 000 to fight. His days are done. He will never he world class again. Plus he would lose to every 168 champs and lose a martinez rematch. Pavlik = Dusk in the wind
I'm willing to let him prove that in the ring, one way or the other. Two losses. Both p4p fighters. Not that ESB has ever been known to over react much... atsch
Plus he is only 29 and has checked into rehab. People can say what they want but checking into rehab is better then not checking in. Pavlik made a good career move by getting himself clean and sober. Pavlik will allways be ranked up with the best in whatever weight class he chooses to fight in as long as he continues to fight. I would not be surpised to see him the champ again before his career is done.
How so? He was the lineal Middleweight champion of the world. His two losses came against great fighters in B-Hop and Martinez. I don't get how he was mismanaged at all. He as guaranteed over a million for the Bute fight. He is a person who doesn't seem to make the best decisions.
The Martinez fight was a TERRIBLE mistake. He should have fought Williams instead. His MW title defenses were kind of embarrassing. Taylor didn't have the best title defenses, but Pavlik's make his look like ATG material.
If Pavlik wasn't an alcoholic, he wouldn't have passed on the Paul Williams fight. Martinez was moving up from 154lbs after having a FOTY type of fight against Williams. It wasn't a terrible mistake until Pavlik lost.
He never should have gone up in weight to fight B-Hop it was a no win fight. And I would not have let him fight Sergio either. Guys like Paul Williams, Arthur Abraham are the fights I would have made for him come hell or high water. B-Hop and Sergio I would never have made those fights for him. It was stupid. So was the Bute fight, Pavlik was smart not to take it.
