Find me a single title defense of Pavlik's middleweight title against ANYONE in Williams or Martinez' class. Whoever picks Pavlik to win is mentally ******ed. Williams would slice his ass to pieces even if he had a thumb or finger injury he wouldn't cancel it.
I think Martinez is better than Pavlik. I do not think Pavlik could beat Martinez or Wright. Pavlik is good but he telegraphs his punches and thats why Hopkins beat him so easily. Williams and Martinez do not telegraph their punches. And Taylor is not on their level either because he telegraphs everything but his jab. Williams and Martinez are great fighters, who has Pavlik beaten to allow anyone to believe he could knock out Paul Williams? And he certainly wont be outboxing Paul Williams so how will he win?
Pavlik is all wrong for Williams. Pressure fighters are made for Pavlik. There will be a solid jab coming back at Williams and he can take Williams punches and hit him back with flush bombs. Pavlik would punish the "punisher". I hope this fight happens, but it looks really unlikely now, with PW supposedly going back to 147.
Martinez could hurt anybody. Paul Williams was stunned not seriously hurt. Kelly has power but you people over estimate his power. He is not Felix Trinidad, he does not have the sort of power that Abraham has which can knock you out or change the fight in a single punch. He is a volume puncher just like Williams. When you consider their styles William is actually a more skillful volume puncher and has good enough power to hurt Pavlik.
pavlik's style is nothing like martinez though. Look at how much trouble PW had hitting martinez cause he is a slick southpaw. Pavlik is much easier to hit
What are you talking about??? Did Cory Spinks take bolo's from Mayorga all night then get knocked out by Judah??? Juan Diaz walked thought PoPo Frietas all night long then got knocked out by a smaller lighter hitting JMM??? One fight has nothing to do with the next which is the mistake that too many people too aften make is thinking it does. Williams and Martinez offered one another a different set of issue then would be the case in a fight with Pavlik. For one these guys are more fluid, and can throw shots without having thier feet set, Pavlik can not. Martinez would offer Pavlik a different set of issues then either Hopkins or Taylor didnt, one being hand speed and head movement. Williams likewise would offer a relentless drive and a high output. Taylor and Hopkins do not. This fight has no bearing on how Pavlik would fair vs either guy, it only showed us how they faired against each other:good
You are talking like Paul Williams is some master boxer who throws every punch with razor accuracy and makes his opponents miss. He doesn't. The only trait Williams might have on Pavlik is that he throws more variety but thats it. Are you going to tell me Tony Margarito is more skilled than Pavlik? How does Tony Margarito hit Paul Williams and Pavlik would miss all night? Are you guys seriously considering this? As for punch comparison, there is absolutely no discussion to be had. Hopkins landed far harder, cleaner punches than Williams ever will on Pavlik. Ditto for Taylor who I'll say right now is faster and more lethal at 160 than Williams. Williams has one solid knockout on his ledger against Carlos Quintana, who by all respect is not elite. What we saw tonight were two very good 154lbers. Lets not overexaggerate that.
Pavlik would have knocked Williams out. Martinez is not a hard puncher and did not have time to even train for the fight like Williams did. Margarito beat the crap out of Williams also. Pierre Benoist = American super criminal
