Calzaghe blundered by not getting Pavlik in the ring a few years ago. Had he been the first to defeat Kelly, it would have upped his status amongst fans and observers immensely.
ESPN columnist Dan Rafeal said Pavlik would have been the one to KO Calzaghe he also picked Pavlik to KO Hopkins ..My only question is how do I get his gig ??
no it wouldnt because pavlik would just be another american lacy, i think whoever calzaghe fought would of been brought down for it because, pavliks name, dawson's name froch's name they were all coming through.....he would of just been beating prospects in the eyes of many!

I doubt it. Look what happened after Joe thrashed Lacy, everyone just said - oh well, Lacy was always a one-dimensional hype job anyway etc etc. The same would have happened if JC had beaten Pavlik.
Its a good job Calzaghe didnt beat Pavlik hed be getting the same critism he gets now when people bring up Lacys name and discrediting the win. But if it makes you feel better to say Calzaghe whos never been KOd or beaten, would have been beaten by a fighter who got beat by a former WW, so be it.
