Can anyone see him moving up to 168 if he wins the Taylor rematch? If so I would love to see him take on Calzaghe after he beats Hopkins, would be a mega fight I think, but Joe would be too good for him and probably stop him in the late rounds. Also, depending on if he stays at 175 or not, what is the best fight for Calzaghe's legacy after Hopkins? Pavlik or Dawson?
i sure as hell hope not... to be honest im not a fan of all this weight jumping going on in todays boxing. Stick at one division and make it yours... if youve cleaned it out, then i suppose move up. After jermain, id much rather see him fight AA or Winky Wright then move to 168...
Pavlik is the only one who can beat Calzaghe fair and square....Hopkins might get a close decision due to his ability to never take an obvious beating....Pavlik has that one punch fight ending ability but is underskilled in terms of out-pointing Joe. It's a very dangerous mathup for both....and one Calzaghe should avoid I think.....Calzaghe-Woods would be good for me....
Nah, first hell beat some middleweights like Duddy, Abraham and Lee, then move up probably to fight Calzaghe, Hopkins or Jones by next year.
he has said in the hometown papers even before he won the title that after he unifies them he will move up to super middle. His goal is to have all 4 belts and then, only then will he move up to super middle.
Pavliks the best from 160 to 168, he would beat the top guys in both divisions np. I see him fighting at LHW IN 3 years! Cant wait.
Pavlik has nothing to threaten Calzaghe with. Calzaghe can deal with pressure well, and we've seen in the Kessler fight how he deals with a big punch. Pavlik does not hit considerably harder than Mikkel Kessler. In fact, I don't think he punches harder at all.
I think he'll probably move down, win or lose, unless a big money fight shows up at 168... With Calzaghe moving up, there doesn't appear too many. Perhaps Roy Jones. Maybe Kessler, but risk-reward is too high/low. A loss and he'll 100% move down. And probably blame the weight, too
Wayyy off. Pavlik will be a huge draw by the time he moves up, with that style he has he will be bigger than anyone and everyone with the exception of RJJ at SMW and LHW. Bigger (financially) and better (fighter) than Calzaghe, Hopkins, and Kessler. As for moving down? Are you serious, we fight fans are lucky hes still a MW, at 6'2 he literary has to starve himself weeks b4 a fight and still outworks and outhustles his opponents, just imagine at SMW, which is not deeper than MW btw.
Even more ignorant than most of your posts. He easily beats Calzaghe and Kessler? More like he doesn't beat either.
Ignorance has nothing to do with anything i said. Ignorance is defined as a lack of knowledge. Many people on this site not only doubt Kelly Pavlik but they simply hate. How can Calzaghe beat Pavlik? By the time they meet Calzaghe will be done. Even if there was some kind of "Prime for Prime" argument for both, Kelly is still only 25 and is and the upside of his career while Calzaghe's most significant fight came probably when he beat Lacy, and he was what? 33? Cmon mang, i know they are lots of haters on this site, but Calzaghe wont beat Pavlik if they fight.
pavlik had a media press conference today and i was there...let me tell you if you think he hits hard i can tell you if at all possible he is hitting even harder.he is in great shape ...and also he will clean out the mw before he moves up to next level..
I'd like to see him take 5 or so defences at MW before going up. There's some good fights at 160, maybe not big money fights - but they're there.
