I read on 2 threads that this fight was confirmed but i wont belive it until i see the source. unless they said it was confirmed on FNF i missed it. so somebody help me out.
a lot of inside information points to it being done.... but no official news yet by my estimations i think both sides signed contracts and now their just working out final kinks before they announce it
Yesterday Arum said it isn't done. Hit the link, and scroll down to the bottom of the page. http://www.dailybulletin.com/ci_13020004
Promoter Bob Arum said Friday an accord for a fight between middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik and interim junior middleweight champion Paul Williams is closer to being reached. It earlier appeared the fight might not happen because Arum, who promotes Pavlik, and Williams promoter Dan Goossen were far apart on the money issue. "HBO has done a great job of closing the gap and bringing it to fruition," Arum said. This content is protected "The fight would be televised by HBO. Didn't I say HBO might not take to kind to Goosen turning down a reasonable offer? Seems they are involved. Still Paul has to look at that contract and say, "Damned, this is a good payday, but am I ready for my last good payday yet?"
True. After ending the Pavlik era, he'll be having some great paydays - he needs to ensure that the last good payday is decent
It's not done yet, but I have been led to believe by more than one source involved in the talks that the proposed Oct. 3 HBO fight between middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams is inching its way toward being finalized. I hope it gets done. It's a tremendous fight. espn boxing.
Goosen is in a tough spot by now. He has to make a hard choice. If he acts in the best interest of his fighter, he'll **** HBO off. If he wants to please HBO, he has to throw his fighter to the wolves, or should I say to "The Ghost!"
I happen to like Paul alot. I first noticed him when I saw one of his early fights on ESPN. Right off I thought he might turn into something special, so I started tracking his career. I've seen a bunch of his fights. I first took note of Pavlik when he fought McKart in 2006. After that fight I started tracking his career and learning more about his past. I've seen most of his fights. My main concern with this fight is Paul's post-pavlik career. Miranda ,Taylor, and several lesser fighters did not fair well. PWilly won't either.
